Artist Sol LeWitt had a great passion for music. At the end of his life he had created an archive of almost 4,000 self-compiled cassettes. It contained many German and Austrian classical composers, with Bach playing a leading role. Other music was by contemporaries with whom LeWitt felt a kinship as an artist, composers such as Philip Glass and Steve Reich. They, like LeWitt, often resisted the label 'minimalism', but that is how their work has become known. The Portuguese has no electricity or heating. The illumination is from over 1,000 candles, that also provide a little heat. Especially for this occasion, the Amstel Quartet play a program of this minimalist music.
