Winter during a pandemic was not the vibe. Just to clear a few things up: yes, I drive outside of center city; the reason there are so many clips from CC is because that's where the majority of bad driving occurs! To say that I never go to "the hood" is inaccurate and a blind assumption that the only driving I do is what is in my videos. This footage is gathered over multiple weeks and hours of regular, calm driving. (I'm sure the people that should see this aren't actually reading it here lol). I also take public transit, ride my bike, and walk! I really do want to make real-time drive videos but my camera rattles too much and I'm convinced it's simply the design of the Vantrue mount. I've used five different mounts and they all have the same issue. If only that Viofo 4K camera worked for me :/ Leave a comment with your reactions and like the video if you enjoyed it. Tootles :) </video> <video> T-Bone Crash in Downtown Philadelphia Description: Let it be known, I do not want this video featured in any third party compilation videos (don't waste your time asking). Thank you for respecting my decision. This crash occurred on East Vine Street at the intersection of North 13th Street in Center City Philadelphia on June 25, 2021 at approximately 2:40 p.m. as captioned in the video. In all honesty, I was absolutely terrified. As some of my friends have put it, "they came out of no where." If you're still on the edge about buying a dashcam (because believe me, I know they feel like a big expense), please do so, especially if you drive frequently in a large metropolitan area. EMS arrived shortly after along with tow trucks (always eager to take someone's car with them). I had to call 911 twice and I was stranded in the road for over an hour before an officer from the Philadelphia Police Department arrived. Then I had to show the officer the footage, make my statement, and allow the officer to file the report (taking another 45 mins). The other driver claimed they entered the intersection on a yellow light (not funny). What really matters is that no one was seriously hurt, as they could have been. I was only moving at about 15-20 mph and the other driver was moving at around 30 mph. Speed plays a very big role in survival rate. As for the damages, I'm awaiting the assessment from my insurance, for which the other party will be charged through accordingly. Maybe I will drive my Rav4 again? I will provide an update of course once I know myself. Please try not to start suggesting new car ideas; I know it's fun but this whole ordeal is very costly and overwhelming. Xoxo </video> <video> Bad Drivers of Philadelphia 11 Description: Welcome back to another rendition of humans making bad decisions in Philadelphia :P You may notice some changes in the video style: different dashcam, different fonts, and different thumbnail. I did do a significant changeover as I am now using a Viofo A129 Pro and editing the clips using Adobe Premiere. I'm still learning the ropes of how to use the software, so I would appreciate your leniency with sentiments regarding the editing quality. I still have hopes to work on a "Worst Of" video using only the most severe clips from compilations 1-10, although I am remarkably busy. Due a steady decline in viewership, I do not feel particularly motivated to prioritize new content; I hope that is reasonable (all things considered). Nevertheless, to those who read this: thank you for your continued support. </video> <video> Vehicle Collision in Orange, NJ Description: Let it be known, this video shall not appear in/on any third party crash compilation videos. As property of Bad Drivers of Maryland, the video author reserves the right to deny any and all requests for special use and take action against individuals that violate copyright protections. This incident occurred on December 21, 2022 at the intersection of Northfield Avenue and Wheeler Street in Orange, New Jersey. The camera footage shows a yellow Dodge Charger driving beside the camera vehicle in the left-turn-only lane. A dual-turn fail type of event occurred, where the driver of the Dodge Charger collided into my Rav4 as I was beginning my left turn. The area of impact involved the front right bumper of the Charger and the left rear wheel and wheel arch of the Rav4. Scuffs and paint transfer were the bulk of the damage. Due to the location of the impact, the Rav4's left rear wheel was momentarily suspended as the vehicle was low-speed PIT maneuvered. I'm happy to report there were no injuries. I had 2 passengers in the vehicle at the time of the incident and they were emotionally rattled, understandably so. After some cool-off time, everyone was back at-ease. As you can imagine, I was not pleased considering my new Rav4 had only 1,000 miles on the odometer. Fortunately, the damage is cosmetic and shouldn't be too hard to remediate. </video> <video> Bad Drivers of Philadelphia 9 Description: It's been a few months and I have been keeping very busy, but my work has not involved much driving, and I'm good with that. I was somewhat out-of-service for two months after the wreck, being that insurance did not total the Rav4 until they were just about to begin repair work and then discovered deeper damages. With that said, I'm now the owner of a brand new 2022 Toyota Prius Prime LE, and it couldn't have been better with the rise in gas prices a couple months post-purchase. I've been averaging around 69 mpg (nice) and I've only gassed up 3 times over the last 2,000 miles. Now I do miss the ride height and storage space of the Rav4, so I won't rule out future switch-up, but since they cost $9,000 more than they did a year ago, the Prius was the smartest choice for me. If you're trying to buy a car right now, be strong and be patient, as we pay for convenience and we pay for expediency. Happy Holidays and wishing safety for everyone. In fact, the footage I had from that camera is in this video. Can you tell the difference? Personally, while I like the angle of the lens and the stability of the recording, I think the image quality is not as good and the audio is definitely not as good (compared to the Vantrue X4). Nevertheless, my Vantrue X4 has been giving me more issues (like turning on and off as it pleases) as of late so I'm still on the hunt for a new 4K camera. It's been oddly hard lately. My hybrid brakes are much more sensitive than those of the Elantra, even if the video doesn't really give good perception of distance and speed (hence the disclaimer). I will say, however, if you saw a noticed a nose dive, then most likely your eyes were not fooling you because the Rav4 definitely dips down a bit (naturally) during hard braking. MPG has been good. This is what happened: I bought a Viofo A129 Pro 4K Camera, and it turns out it doesn't like Macbook Pros, so I had to send it back. I have quite a bit of Philadelphia video from the failed Viofo camera that I will have to edit on a PC and upload later, so maybe that will be Philly 5? If not its own separate video, I will edit it on a PC and then add it into Philly 5 with other video from my Vantrue X4 camera, which is what we're watching here. Sorry for the bad angles, I'm still trying to figure out where to put the mount and how to prevent the camera from rattling. It's a work-in-progress. Explanations aside, I hope you like the latest rendition of events here in the city of brotherly love. If you don't like it, you don't have to tell me :) I'm fragile enough as it is (haha). Warm weather will be here very soon, so this might be the last we see snow on the ground until next winter (fingers crossed). Before everyone starts asking questions, yes I changed the horn on my Rav4 (which proves to be a total waste now since the whole front end is ruined). What did you guys think of its tone? Maryland 12/14/20 Description: December 14, 2020 This video was submitted by a friend of mine and they own all rights to the video. As depicted, the blue Ford Escape became distracted by the Honda Pilot waiting to turn left and took that as their opportunity to go. They react too late once in the path of the red Honda Civic, hence the collision occurs. The cammer remained on-scene and checked on the drivers and occupants. Emergency responders swiftly came to help and all three vehicles were towed. The driver of the red Civic was transported to a hospital by Ambulance for minor injuries and they should recover fully over time. The blue Escape driver was cited at fault.
