I feel your frustration and want you to know you are not the only one. If we understand the notes we need to play and can play them individually and hear what each note sounds like, combining them might make more sense. We can experiment with forming parts of the F chord and strumming slowly and listening carefully. I call it disassembling the chord. We are looking at the components of the chord and understanding each part. Here are two more observations if I can please share: 1) If the chord looks right, it will eventually sound good with consistent practice. 2) It is a fairly unnatural pose so your muscles don't know what the heck is going on.
