Just plan small steps that start preparing you for a positive change. My daily intentions can be to work on the van (even if it’s just for an hour), plan my next van build project, and to lay out my van build outfit for tomorrow before I go to bed. 2️⃣ Surround yourself with positivity and examples of your ideal life. This means talking to people that are where you want to be or even just researching and/or watching videos of people living your dream life. Only do this if it makes you excited though. You should not feel jealous or bitter. 3️⃣ Talk about it. Don’t be afraid to share your goals and dreams with others. By doing this you’re speaking it into existence and altering your own behavior to subconsciously create that life. 4️⃣ Reflect and adjust. At the end of the day, relax and think about the small changes you’re making and what you can do in the coming days. 5️⃣ Make a three month plan. Write down real achievable steps that you believe you can take and succeed at in the next 90 days. Write them down and start thinking about what you need to do to get them done. 6️⃣ Turn down distractions to your success. If you know that something or someone is hindering your success, then make it a point to turn it down, limit time with them, or replace it with something more in line with your goals. For example, if you’re trying to cut back on eating junk food, find healthy snacks that you actually like and stock up on those. 7️⃣ Clean your space. I promise if you clean your living space, you’ll feel clearheaded and more positive and you’ll actually feel more hopeful about your future. Velit came in hot with this heater. I installed a Webasto heater in my last campervan and not only was that gasoline heater TWICE the price, but it didn't have nearly as many features... My Webasto didn't have a carbon monoxide alarm, a bluetooth thermostat app, or the ability to run at higher elevations (unless you jerry rigged it, but that also meant it worked less efficiently. The Velit automatically detects your elevation and adjusts fuel runs accordingly.) The heater installation itself was a straightforward process. Installing any gasoline heater on the Ford Transit van is where it gets a little tricky. I didn't realize how lucky I was with the accessibility in my old Promaster van. Anyways, combining installation information from several other videos, my goal was to make a video that covered it all for anyone installing a gasoline heater in their Ford Transit van. And building a campervan shower is already just as hard as I thought it would be. I watched some videos that made me feel better about it, but once I started, I was back to reality. 😂 I also haven’t been able to find anyone that has built an indoor shower so close to the driver seat in the Ford Transit van. I understand why and almost changed my layout so the shower was in the middle of the driver wall, but there would’ve been other complications with that. I decided to stick with this plan and figure it out along the way. I originally planned to have a 36x24 inch shower pan, but decided to get a slightly smaller one to help me navigate this complicated corner space better. Luckily @recprousa has a ton of different sizes and I found a 30x23 that fits the area so much better without sacrificing a comfortable amount of shower space. It’s taking a little thinking outside the [very unlevel, geometrically confusing] box, but I’m happy with how it’s coming together. (Maybe I have commitment issues?) Anyways, the space at the back of this bench was going to be unusable since the Murphy bed will be above it. So… I added storage. I secured the storage compartment to the bench with pocket screws that can be easily removed at any time if I need more access to the inside of the bench (which I will when I install my plumbing). The front half of the lid is still mobile with the help of a 48” piano hinge (link in bio). Description: Sometimes when I’m trying to fall asleep, I’ll intentionally think about my todo list/next steps for the van. It sounds crazy, but it usually helps me fall asleep really quickly for some reason. 😂 Until… 👇🏼 I DID fall asleep pretty much immediately, but I had what felt like a conscious sleep where all night, I was just working through everything I needed to do for the van build. A swivel seat! These take very little time to install and they are so useful when living on the road. It’s another seat to work, hangout, host guests, etc.. In my last van, even if I wasn’t using the seat, when I knew I was parking in one place for a little bit, I would just swivel the seat to open up my living space and make my van feel more spacious. For example, a full size pantry or closet. A van feels sooo much bigger and less claustrophobic when you can hold your arms out side to side without hitting anything. I am breaking this rule a little bit in this van build by building a fixed indoor shower, but I intentionally built it behind the driver’s seat/in front of the side door walkway to maximize that open, spacious feeling. 3. Build a converted bed or Murphy bed. Getting your bed out of the way during the day makes your van feel twice as big. 4. A sunroof and windows. It’s obvious that windows and natural light make a space feel open and airy. My preference is to have a window on every wall for both light and visibility. 5. Hang up mirrors! Mirrors are a great way to trick the mind into thinking your space extends out further than it does. That said, the heater in my last van build ended up costing $1,400 after all the supplies needed. I just couldn’t justify spending that this time around since it’s just me in this van. I was prepared to settle with a cheap diesel heater before I discovered the new Velit heater. The cool thing about van life over the last 5 years has been the evolution and diversity in products hitting the market to make van life easier, more affordable, and more enjoyable. There are more reliable electrical options, 12v rooftop AC options, and now a high-tech, affordable heater option. For half the price of my last heater, I’m getting a far better, more advanced heater. The Velit came with everything I needed to install it, plus optional pieces like a muffler to reduce noise. It also comes with a thermostat app that allows me to: • See the ambient temperature in my van at any time • Easily read error codes without having to research them • Set the exact temperature I want the heater to maintain • Blow the heater fan consistently until I turn it off with the manual setting • Set scheduled times for my heater to kick on automatically And I think what makes me feel so good about investing in the Velit heater is the built-in carbon monoxide detector to give me peace of mind on the road. Be careful with the wires and plugs. Step 2: Notch Out Room for Brackets - I just used the multitool to notch out the plastic cover so the brackets can sit closer up to the headliner shelf. Step 3: Predrill Holes - This was a pain in the 🍑. The metal in the front half of the Ford Transit is very very tough to cut through. The key is to use metal drill bits and to go as slow as possible to prevent the drill bits from heating up and dulling quickly. I would recommend high quality sheet metal drill bits for this part. Step 4: Predrill Holes in Brackets - Rest your brackets in place and use a sharpie to mark your pre-drilled holes onto your brackets. Use metal drillbits to drill holes in your brackets. Step 5: Install Brackets - I used one self tapping screw and one bolt on each bracket because I didn’t have enough small bolts, but definitely use at least one bolt and per bracket to secure the brackets to the metal of the van. Step 6: Insulate the Ceiling Step 7: Reinstall Headliner - This was just as easy as taking it down. You will also likely need extension bits and angle bits to get into a couple of the tight spaces. The tight space bit kit I use is linked in my bio. I go back-and-forth between working on this indoor shower and installing my 12v gasoline heater. It’s been rainy season here in Tennessee and it makes more sense for me to work on the shower on days that it’s raining. I used to feel like I couldn’t compartmentalize multiple van build projects at once, but I’ve learned to love it because anytime I hit a roadblock where I have to do more research, order a part, or the weather isn’t cooperating, I can work on the other project that I have going on. I needed two extra for my roof deck because you need a crossbar for every 16” of decking. My panels are 24” wide so I used 3 crossbars to support my huge deck. Crossbars 👉 80/20, 1503-LS-Black, 62.75” I threaded the ends using an ‘M8 drill tap’ so I could secure these bars into my roof rack using M8 screws like the rest of the roof rack. I ordered two 12’ TimberTech PVS deck panels from Home Depot. I cut them into 24” panels and used 11 panels for my deck. Note: Most deck screws are made for wood, not aluminum. So I got the SPAX 1 1/4” multi-purpose exterior screws from Lowe's. I predrilled with a 1/8 drill bit. I broke two drill bits, so I’m glad I had extras on hand. That’s about it! I'm incredibly happy with how each piece has come together. Lately, I've maintained good momentum, each day taking a big step toward having a completed campervan. I used to have a Promaster van and didn't realize what a luxury it was to have a headliner shelf pre-installed! The Ford Transit does not come with one so I did have to install one myself. Note: If you do have a 2022 or newer, your Ford Transit has a small factory headliner inside. If you do have one of these, there are several after-market headliner shelves you can purchase that are compatible with your van. That's what I would had done if I could! I’ll cut a shelf out of birch plywood and cover it with a fabric before screwing it into these brackets. I had to put small blocks of wood on the bottom side of the aluminum brackets to level out the brackets a little more. There aren’t a ton of resources available for this since the only vans who need this kind of headliner install are 2021 Ford Transits and newer.
