It is based on real facts, but the images are the pure result of the imagination of the designer who tried to illustrate as faithfully as possible the facts reported. Art collector Laura Young is a smart and lucky woman. She buys undervalued artwork from antiques dealers and sells it at auction for a high price. She notably sold at Christie's for $63,000 a Chinese painting bought for a pittance. But her latest, even more spectacular deal was made at a local Goodwill store in Austin, Texas. She spotted a bust hidden under a table whose appearance intrigued her and bought it for the mere sum of $33. On closer examination she became convinced that the bust was not a simple copy, but probably a very old artefact. She began investigating and consulted art experts to identify the bust and its origin. Research confirmed that the bust depicted Drusus Germanicus, a Roman general who lived in the 1st century A.D. and that it was actually carved at that time ! This work of art was exposed since the 19th century in a German museum, destroyed by a bombing during the second world war. At the end of the war, the bust was not found and deemed to be looted like many works of art at that time. This story happened in 2020 in the UK (Wales), in the peaceful island of Anglesey. Mared Foulkes was in her second year studying pharmaceuticals at Cardiff University. Between COVID, the death of her grandmother and failing her exams, Mared was not having a very good year. She was spending the summer at her parents' house and was waiting for the results of the re-sit exam she had taken after her first failure. The success of this exam was critical for the pursuance of her studies. In the meantime, Mared worked part-time in a local pharmacy. Unfortunately, one night she received an e-mail from the university informing her that she had failed her exam. Mared said nothing to anyone, took the car, and drove to Britannia Bridge off which she jumped. The police found her body the next day. Mared had actually passed her exam, but the university had mistakenly sent the results of the first exam she had failed. Cardiff University sent a letter of excuses to the parents and clarified the system for sharing results.
