Silicone, Goretex, Medpor and other synthetic implants are problematic in that they never integrate with the nose and always remain as a foreign body that causes injury to the nose. Other time the implants can thin the skin and even extrude through it. Rib cartilage and diced cartilage fascia (DCF) become fully integrated into the nose within 2-3 months and the results are permanent.
