Subscribe for more! </video> <video> DODGE CHARGER HELLCAT CHASSIS LEG SWAP! Description: CAREFUL WHAT YOU BUY! This Dodge charger hellcat is a mess! There’s so much to do to get this Hellcat back on the road. If you saw the last video, you’ll know that this Dodge Charger might look great, but it has serious problems. When I first started looking at it, I thought it was just a dodgy paint job, there were paint runs all over the front end of the car. But as I looked at it, something just didn’t seem right. It took me a while to figure it out, but then I spotted it – the wheel on the left hand side was sticking out from under the wheel arch more than the wheel on the right hand side. And that is NEVER a good sign. It means either the wheel arch is in the wrong place, or the wheel is in the wrong place. And either of those things points to big problems. I looked more closely under the wheel arch, and the chassis leg was clearly bent. It had a proper massive kink in it. And there is literally no way to fix that. You can’t drive the car, the whole thing is bent. It won’t drive in a straight line, you’ll be constantly crabbing across the road. Your tyres will wear uneven, they’ll gradually grind down on one side, because they’re essentially pulling sideways cross the road. Plus, here in the UK, it will definitely fail an MOT, so it won’t be road legal. There was only one solution – cut away the whole left hand front end and replace it. Possibly worth doing, if it was a common car and parts were easy to find. But we don’t get Hellcats in the UK, you never see them on the roads here. Probably because they never made a right hand drive version. You can get after market conversions, but Dodge never made a RHD version, so they’re really rare on UK roads. I told the owner of the car, he wasn’t happy. But he happened to be in Dubai when I rang him and he went to search breakers yards out there. The Charger SRT is pretty popular out in Dubai, so he was able to find a whole front section. The breakers cut the whole section off, and shipped it to us here in the UK! How amazing is that? So the job is on. Now the real hard work starts. We took out the engine, cut off all the damaged sections and got the car set up on the Car-o-liner jig. This is a tool for securing very precisely measuring a car’s chassis. It allows you to choose points along the chassis, and compare the measurements to a published list of what they should be. Needless to say, the damaged corner of the car was way off the right measurements. But the good news is that the chassis behind the bulkhead, or the firewall, whatever you call it where you’re from, was spot on. So we just needed to pull it straight, weld on the new front section, get the chassis to line up, and put it all back together… easy right?? What did you think of it guys?
