During their stay, these specialists also helped to conserve and preserve Indian monuments of the same period, constructed by Hindu Kings. Through the documentary, the artist shows how understanding was built between the two countries thanks to the act of exchange and repair of those buildings: equally important for both countries to preserve their rich cultural heritage and history. Sushanta Guha is presently working in Garhi Artist studios, Lalit Kala Akademi, Delhi. He leads workshops throughout India and overseas. In 1982, Sushanta graduated and completed his post-graduate studies, at the Kala Bhavan in Shantiniketan. The Government of India awarded him with a Junior and Senior Fellowship as well as the National Cultural Scholarship. In 1998, at Camberwell College in London, he was awarded the Fellowship by Charles Wallace India Trust Award in Printmaking. In 2003, he received a Fulbright Fellowship at the Manhattan Graphic Center, in New York. The National Gallery of Modern Art, in Delhi, State Museum of Poland, New York Public Library, and Leicester Art Council, in the UK, have collections of his artwork. https://edinburghprintmakers.co.uk/viewing-room/50-from-where-i-stand-an-exhibition-curated-by-future-flow/ This film was commissioned as part of Future Flow. The Future Flow project has seen 18 Scotland and India based young art workers collaborate to ideate, commission, and deliver the new exhibition 'From Where I Stand' and series of public events. 11 of these 18 curators have then worked together to develop and deliver From Where I Stand exhibition in its Scottish iteration. Future Flow was a curatorial fellowship developed by Edinburgh Printmakers and Flow India working with the National Institute of Design, India, Edinburgh College of Art and the Centre for Research Collections at the University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh Napier University, and Queen Margaret University. The project and exhibitions have been supported by The British Council. With thanks to the Consul General of India, Edinburgh for their support throughout the project. The young curators came from varying backgrounds of history, art, design to create an exhibition that delves into the intriguing past, present, and future relationships between Scotland and India, aiming to foster cross-cultural understanding and dialogue. It also features the Living Archive which aims to document and preserve narratives to create sustainable and informed futures. Invited representatives of each studio, as well as artist members, students or collaborators will give a talk and introduce their organisation, work, projects and facilities to an international audience of creative printmakers. The Art of Printmaking International online conversations will create a virtual space for sharing in our passion for advancing printmaking, sustaining communities and contributing to the cultural life of our countries. Funen Printmaking Studio is a unique cultural institution that creates professional visual art and thereby contributes to marking Funen as a part of the country with a rich and varied cultural life. The studio exists because there is a strong community of interest among graphic artists who want to develop the art and graphic professionalism. In the house, strong graphic traditions are cultivated and developed, and from here knowledge of the potential of the graphic medium is spread. Funen Printmaking Studio is both a workshop, Artist in Residence, gallery and shop. That is, a small ecosystem with a strong history and derived unique spirit (genius loci = spirit of the place). </video>
