Next, we dressed in vibrant Nigerian Yorùbá attire and joined the local community for Christmas mass at their local Catholic Church. It was inspiring to see so many people dressed in their finest, all gathered to celebrate the holiday with faith and unity. But just as the service began, the largest storm we’ve ever experienced hit! With no windows or doors in the church, the rain poured in, adding a wild and unexpected twist to the peaceful day. The kids wandered off to play with local children, forming new friendships while we took in the breathtaking scenery. After church, we returned to enjoy an epic Christmas feast, filled with plant based delicacies and our host's Luwombo, and also marked a special milestone—our eldest son’s birthday!
