During the mid 1980s, they dominated the UK charts with their high-gloss anthems. 1984 saw the iconic moment that the provocative hybrid rock-dance anthem “Relax” got banned from the BBC, making waves across the UK & beyond and reached a total of 2 million sales at the time. Their politically-charged second single, “Two Tribes”, was the longest running UK No 1 during the 1980s, remaining there for nine weeks while “Relax” climbed back up to No 2. “The Power Of Love” cemented their record-breaking run of three No 1s in the UK Top 40. Their second album “Liverpool” gained similar successes with singles “Rage Hard” and “Warriors Of The Wasteland”. However, following their stadium tour in 1987, lead singer Holly Johnson departed band which saw the end of Frankie Goes To Hollywood at the time.
