Description: ITER's Poloidal Field Coil 4 is one of the largest superconducting magnets to be completed. Made in Europe by Fusion for Energy (F4E) and at least 10 companies, this massive magnet measures 24 m in diameter and weighs approximately 349 tonnes. The magnet successfully passed all tests and was handed over to ITER Organization in August. It consists of nine parts known as sectors. Each of them is 6.5 m high, 3 m wide, 6.3 m deep and weighs around 500 t. Europe is responsible for manufacturing five sectors. Walter Tosto, one of the F4E contractors involved in the manufacturing, has opened the doors of its factory.
