In today's video, we're tackling a repair on a Fanuc Alpha Series Servo Amplifier that was sent in by a customer using our available Rush Service. The unit had an electrical issue that we were able to resolve, but we encountered a complication – the cover of the terminal block was broken. This cover is crucial for protecting the terminal strip from debris and ensuring the proper functioning of the drive. Since the customer needed the repair quickly, we couldn't afford to wait for a replacement cover to arrive. That's where our additive manufacturing capabilities came in handy. We used 3D printing to design and create a custom hinge that would allow us to reattach the broken cover and make it fully functional again. Here's a step-by-step breakdown of the repair process: Design and print the repair piece: We used CAD software to design a hinge that would fit perfectly over the broken cover. Then, we used a 3D printer to fabricate the piece. Attach the repair piece: Once the piece was printed, we carefully epoxied it to the broken cover. Secure the hinge: We then glued the bracket to the actual cover of the bracket that we had made. Allow the epoxy to cure: We let the epoxy cure overnight to ensure a strong bond. Install the terminal cover: After the epoxy had cured, we carefully installed the terminal cover back in place. Test the repair: We tested the unit to make sure everything was working properly. The result: The repair was a success! The terminal cover is now securely attached and fully functional. The customer was very happy with the quick turnaround and the quality of the repair.
