By using the HDMI port of the camera with the TV output set to 1080p and no REC info (clean HDMI feed) it is possible by using an external recorder to monitor and record the audio and video feed from the camera. This overcomes the 29min 59 sec recording limit imposed on some cameras. So by using the image app to control the camera and the HDMI feed recorded on a stand alone recorder, or by capturing the HDMI feed through a HDMI to UVC converter it is possible to use recording apps like CamX (for IOS devices) to capture excellent quality clips. Ipads with USB-C port or Android smartphones with USB-C port are candidates for the recording device or standalone recorders like the Avermedia EZ330 can also be used.
