After contributing his work to compilations such as ‘EZMVA’ by 111records (‘bukdácsol és megérkezik’) and ‘Healer’ by EXILES (‘how i found my peace today’), he returns to our label with his debut album ‘ceramic tears’, a 7-track collection that came to be in the autumn-winter period of 2023. The main focus of kukorica’s work is recreating nature-like behaviors using artificial sounds, and this effortless aim to merge the organic with the synthetic is evident from the first seconds of ‘gritty frogs’ all the way to the last notes of ‘middle tear’. ‘ceramic tears’ is a deeply personal, matured record, one that is also an experiment in observing: after setting up generative systems and stochastic processes, kukorica tries to only step in as gentle arranger, to guide sounds rather than force them in a certain direction. We are proud to present this raw hypnotic techno release with a very personal universe. Following the artistic direction of the label, the EP was composed and recorded live, the edit is only there to polish and make the set shine. Composed on a small modular case, Nntblst shows us a perfect mastery of his instrument. The EP is composed of 5 tracks that form a coherent and flawless whole. We navigate through gritty and enchanting atmospheres, contrasted by a thumping intensity throughout the listening. “When I am dead” welcomes us with its kick wrapped in a groovy reverb, held by a tense and excited rhythm. The spirit of the EP is already there, hidden behind a few notes of synth with a scraped texture, as haunting as desired. “The deluge May Come” is supported by a solid rolling bass that warns us of the upcoming tension. A “straight to the point” track, full of “ear candies” that we savor with delight. With its broken techno beat, “For Ought I Care”, is a beautiful tour de force: a tension that keeps increasing, where each part of the track makes us climb one more step, in the middle of its obsessive synth line, to end in a slow and magnificent deconstruction (or destruction?) of its texture. With “Ruin”, we descend back into a mental and throbbing atmosphere. Its background rhythm runs like a compulsive horse and keeps us on tenterhooks. A striking track with as its climax an absolutely mind-blowing suspended break, led by a beautiful distorted feedback that gives goosebumps. “Dead and Gone”, a condensed version of the EP’s spirit and energy, is a dancefloor killer. Driven by a roll of distorted toms in a slight delay, quickly joined by the off-beat ride, the track unfolds at the whim of totally hypnotic synth line. Nntblst shows us once again his keen sense of the break with a transposition that makes the head spin to start again in full force. We love it. This last track brilliantly concludes the journey we have been embarked on. “After me, the deluge” is undoubtedly a mature, rich and striking EP that we can’t wait to hear in the darkness of the dance-floors. Spotify is the worst out of them all - it is trying to control our taste in music, as well as using the ever annoying loudness normalisation which turns your track up or down to meet the appropriate level of the previous and next track. Granted they have nailed the interface but it is just another corporation sucking the life music. Aside from gigs Bandcamp is currently the only fair way for musicians to get paid. Maybe if they had a better streaming app they could take a bite out of Spotify. Anyway - enough rant. This track was straight out of my RYTM drum machine - multi tracked to 5 channels in Logic. I then edited and processed all the sounds further to get the clean / dirty production style that I aim for with my techno. The main synth has a send on it which goes to the ever evil OHMICIDE. It's the first track I have made in a long time that made me want to play out again. I haven't made much music since covid as all my gig bookings ended there, and I always made tracks to play out. With “Ruin”, we descend back into a mental and throbbing atmosphere. Its background rhythm runs like a compulsive horse and keeps us on tenterhooks. A striking track with as its climax an absolutely mind-blowing suspended break, led by a beautiful distorted feedback that gives goosebumps. “Dead and Gone”, a condensed version of the EP’s spirit and energy, is a dancefloor killer. Driven by a roll of distorted toms in a slight delay, quickly joined by the off-beat ride, the track unfolds at the whim of totally hypnotic synth line. Nntblst shows us once again his keen sense of the break with a transposition that makes the head spin to start again in full force. We love it. This last track brilliantly concludes the journey we have been embarked on. “After me, the deluge” is undoubtedly a mature, rich and striking EP that we can’t wait to hear in the darkness of the dance-floors. We are proud to present this raw hypnotic techno release with a very personal universe. Following the artistic direction of the label, the EP was composed and recorded live, the edit is only there to polish and make the set shine. Composed on a small modular case, Nntblst shows us a perfect mastery of his instrument. The EP is composed of 5 tracks that form a coherent and flawless whole. We navigate through gritty and enchanting atmospheres, contrasted by a thumping intensity throughout the listening. “When I am dead” welcomes us with its kick wrapped in a groovy reverb, held by a tense and excited rhythm. The spirit of the EP is already there, hidden behind a few notes of synth with a scraped texture, as haunting as desired. “The deluge May Come” is supported by a solid rolling bass that warns us of the upcoming tension.
