Although fevers are a normal, healthy immune response, they can sometimes cause dread or anxiety for parents, particularly in young children 🌡️ And while herbs are not a replacement for over-the-counter medications when fevers are dangerously high, there are some herbal allies that can help to gently encourage the resolution of a fever (and even help with the pain and crankiness associated with it), when they’re in a safe range. This herbal syrup offers a gentle, natural way to support fevers and help the body cool down using child-safe herbs. Garlic is an antimicrobial herb that has been used for thousands of years in many cultures to fight infection. In this simple recipe, it is combined with honey, another antimicrobial superfood. A true celebration of simple, accessible kitchen herbalism! 🌿 Garlic honey and the honey-steeped garlic cloves can be taken on a regular basis as a heart tonic or to stave off infection. They can also be taken at the first sign of illness or to soothe a sore throat, cough, cold, the flu, or sinus infection. 🥄 Tip: Try garlic honey stirred into a hot cup of tea or eaten by the spoonful! HOW TO MAKE GARLIC HONEY: 🍯 Peel and separate the cloves of 3 garlic bulbs and chop or grate. 🍯 Fill a sanitized, dry jar about half full with chopped garlic cloves, then cover with raw honey. (Avoid filling to the top of the jar as a harmful bacteria is more likely to grow if there is no air space at the top of the jar.) 🍯 Stir the honey with a sanitized, dry spoon to make sure all the garlic is covered. 🍯 Cap and label the jar, and store for up to 3 months. 🍯 To use, take 1 teaspoon per day as a tonic or 4-6 times per day during an active infection.
