I Houston Police Description: Executive Assistant Chief Alvaro Guzman briefs the media on an officer-involved shooting at 9900 Homestead Rd. Preliminary information: At 7:56 a.m. on Monday, January 6th, HPD received a criminal mischief call about a man wielding a sharp object and slashing tires and breaking the windows of multiple vehicles. Officers arrived within five minutes and made contact with the suspect, a Black male. Officers gave commands and attempted to detain the suspect, but he fled. Officers followed and tackled the man at the above address. During the struggle to take him into custody, the suspect maneuvered on top of an officer and reached for that officer's gun. Another officer discharged his weapon twice, striking the suspect. The suspect was declared deceased at the scene. Chief Noe Diaz provides a Spanish translation at 6:23. Chief Wyatt Martin briefs the media on an officer-involved shooting at 7500 Richmond. Preliminary information: At approximately 2:58 am on Sunday, January 12th, officers responded to a report of a hit-and-run accident at the intersection of Hillcroft and Richmond. Upon arriving, they found one damaged vehicle at the scene. Officers approached the vehicle as the driver, a Black male in his 40's, got out with a gun in his hand. Officers gave the man commands to drop the weapon, but he did not comply. The suspect with the gun turned toward the officers. The two officers discharged their duty weapons, striking the suspect. He was taken to the hospital in stable condition to be treated for his injuries. Anyone with information is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600. UPDATE 1-13-25 9:45AM: Charges have been filed against the male suspect, Savion Cartrell Brinson, 30. He is charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon in Harris County Criminal Court #11. Brinson remains hospitalized in stable condition with gunshot wounds. Michael O'Connor brief the media on the shooting of a Police K-9 officer and the suspect who shot a Brazoria County deputy on Stella Link Road. At approximately 4:50 pm on Wednesday, January 15th, during a secondary methodical search of the area near where Brazoria County sheriff's deputy Jesse Vargas had been shot and killed earlier in the day, U.S. marshals utilizing a K-9 officer discovered the suspect hiding in a dumpster. The suspect shot the K-9 officer and deputies returned fire, striking the suspect multiple times and killing him. The wounded U.S. Marshal K-9, Rocky, was transported by LifeFlight and is expected to make a full recovery. Jesse Vargas was a father of three and a Special Deputy with the U.S. Marshal Service Gulf Coast Violent Task Force. This title allowed him the ability to work statewide, according to Marshal O'Connor, outside of his initial jurisdiction as a Brazoria County Sheriff's Deputy. Preliminary information: A Brazoria County deputy sheriff, Jesus "Jesse" Vargas, working with the U.S. Marshals Task Force, was attempting to serve a warrant on a repeat violent offender. As the deputy approached the suspect, the suspect fatally shot the deputy. UPDATE: The suspect has been identified as Robert Davis III (aka Sean Christopher Davis) from Houston. He is a black male, approximately 200 pounds, 5'10" and was last seen wearing a blue Nike hoodie with white lettering, blue jeans and blue sneakers. Do not approach this individual. UPDATE 11/15/25 7:00pm: The suspect Robert Davis was located inside a dumpster in the Stella Link area by a U.S. Marshal Police K-9 around 4:50pm.
