Just about a month ago, my wife and I took a short trip to Bermuda to celebrate our third wedding anniversary. We initially thought that Bermuda is yet another tropical destination, but what we saw and experienced was beyond our expectations. Bermuda is a British island territory in the North Atlantic Ocean best known for its pink sand beaches. Bermuda beaches boast with clear, tranquil turquoise waters with majestic coastal cliffs that add beauty to such picturesque seascapes. Secluded rocky coves offer great snorkeling and serve as the perfect escape and picnic spot for couples and families on any given day. The island gave us a homey feel due to its distinctive blend of American and British cultures. We circled the island via a super convenient Twizy (electric two-seat vehicle). We went on an island getaway to Oahu Hawaii with some of our closest friends. We were graced by beautiful tropical weather that enabled us to enjoy warm, sandy Hawaiian beaches, venture into early morning hikes to some of the most breathtaking trail and mountain views, as well as go aboard a picnic sail to one of the island’s hidden treasures, Kaneohe Bay sandbar. It was our first time traveling with a big group to an unfamiliar island, but definitely will not be our last. The stories, laughter, memories and plentiful adventures shared will surely be ones we’ll remember for many decades to come. Here’s a little video showcasing our magnificent experiences in Oahu. We had such a marvelous time indulging in the island’s rich culture and history, sumptuous dishes and Mauritian hospitality.During our week-long stay, we tried their local dishes (a blend of Creole, Indian, Chinese and European cuisines)—probably some of the best we’ve had in the world, swam with wild dolphins (one of the most exhilarating experiences ever!), hiked Le Morne mountain (the toughest hike we’ve ever done, also UNESCO World Heritage site), interacted with huge Aldabra tortoises, and explored the island’s white sand beaches, Hindu temples and scenic landscapes. We can ultimately say that choosing to drive around the South Island in a “rolling house” enabled us to eat when we want to eat, stay when we want to stay, and leave when we want to leave with no worries. The comfort, flexibility and freedom it gave us truly made a difference in our journey. It enabled us to embark in adventures whilst having a piece of “home.” This is definitely a journey to remember, and we will forever be grateful for experiencing these adventures.
