He announced that the wreckage of the plane that carried the Vice President and eight others was found with no survivors. The crash happened near Nthungwa TNM tower in Viphya plantation, otherwise known as Chikangawa Forest on 10th June. Nova TV, a Mozambican TV called me for an explanation of the events. </video> <video> Cruise 5 with Prophet Habakkuk Stanford Sinyangwe Description: Born Stanford Sinyangwe, the man known as Prophet Habakkuk is quite a social media sensation. He has been seen in various social media clips making comments on issues that affect him, in a manner people find queer and amusing. He is also known as a preacher, he is an evangelist who preaches in buses and public gatherings. In the program he talks about his life, growing up as a promiscuous drunkard before he converted to Christianity and studied theology. </video> <video> Cruise 5 with Nicky Chakwera Description: It’s easy to identify Pastor Nicky Chakwera as the son of Malawi President, Dr. Lazarus Chakwera. But he is more than that, he is a pastor with the Assemblies of God in Malawi, a musician, author and broadcaster. In the program he talks about a wide range of issues. He talks about how he grew up under his father who was a pastor and how he heard his call to minister the word of God. Since his father became president, there have been many issues said about him. The country’s civil rights group, Forum for National Development (FND) in October 2022 called on Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to investigate him amid allegations that he had questionably acquired a stone crusher and two pharmacies worth MK2.85 billion. In August 2021, through his lawyers, Ben and Winston Attorneys, he demanded a whopping sum of two hundred and seventy million kwacha from social commentator-cum politician Joshua Chisa Mbele. The money was meant to cover ‘aggravated damages” for defamation that he says he suffered after Joshua Chisa Mbele alleged that he was behind the siphoning of government resources using a businessman man who charged outrageous sums of money for doing a dubious job of fumigating government buildings during the second wave of the covid-19 pandemic. In the program he addresses the issues. He also talks about the book Politics and Religion that he wrote. </video> <video> Cruise 5 with Jephter McClymont Luciano Description: An interview with Jepther McClymont (Luciano), a famous reggae artist from Jamaica. He recorded his second album for Island Jamaica in 1996 entitled Messenger (largely compiled from his hit singles), whose title track earned him his enduring nickname, The Messenger. He is a well accomplished musician who grew up as a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church before joining Rastafarianism. His album, Great Controversy, received a nomination for Best Reggae Album at the 2002 Grammy Awards. He was awarded the Order of Distinction in the rank of Officer on 15 October 2007, in recognition of his contribution to reggae music. His album Zion Awake was nominated for Best Reggae Album at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards. In 2023, Rolling Stone ranked him at number 143 on its list of the 200 Greatest Singers of All Time. The singer is also an activist in the promotion of ganja, or marijuana. </video> <video> Cruise 5 with Rebecca Malope Description: Born Batsogile Lovederia Malupi, Rebecca Malope is the Queen of Gospel from South Africa. In her early age she was confined to a wheelchair after an illness; doctors believed she would be unable to walk on her own. At the age of 16 she and her sister Cynthia left their home township of Kanyamazane, near Nelspruit, and hiked 400 km (250 mi) to Evaton, and then finally reached Johannesburg. In 1985, Malope entered the Shell Road to Fame television contest with the band she was with, but they were eliminated in the first round of the competition. Despite winning Shell Road to Fame, she struggled to find a record company. Finally she was given a recording contract by MFM but was told that gospel music was off-limits. She was pushed to perform disco songs to sell records to compete with Brenda Fassie, Yvonne Chaka Chaka and Mercy Phakela who were the biggest female artists at the time. She fought on and got her breakthrough through gospel music. She is now a recipient of multiple awards, her music is now enjoyed across the world, with huge listenership in Africa, USA, Sweden, Netherlands, Paris, Australia, Japan, and the UK. In 2021, President Cyril Ramaphosa honoured her with the Order of Ikhamanga for her distinguished contribution to South African music. </video> <video> Cruise 5 with Robert Chenda Mkandawire Description: Robert Chenda Mkandawire is Head of Finance at the National AIDS Commission. However, he grew up as child with hearing impairment. As a child with a hearing impairment, he was not highly regarded and was mocked by his peers. He struggled through primary and secondary school and college. Almost at all levels, schools didn’t have any special needs facilities and following lessons in class was hard. Despite all these challenges he got distinctions in all science subjects throughout his secondary school, even at MSCE. He got selected to the Polytechnic to study Bachelor of Commerce and later studied for a Masters degree in the UK. </video> <video> Cruise 5 with Mussauwa Vincent Wandale Part 2 Description: A continuation of a chat with Mr. Mussauwa Vincent Wandale, leader of the People’s Land Organisation. He claims to be Thyolo and Mulanje Supreme Leader. He calls himself the Emperor, Supreme Ruler and King of Kings and Queens of the 36 Kingdoms under the Worldwide Holy Mbamirian Empire created by the African Traditionalist Monarchy of the United States of Thyolo and Mulanje (MUST). He was previously arrested and tried for trespassing after threatening to grab land from estate owners to freely distribute to landless people in his capacity as leader of People’s Land Organisation (PLO). In November 2016, the Blantyre Senior Residence Magistrate court convicted him on three counts he was answering in relation to Mulanje – Thyolo land grabbing case. He was answering conspiracy to commit a misdemeanour, unauthorised use of land and criminal trespassing. In October 2017, President Peter Mutharika, for the first time, denounced Peoples Land Organization’s pronouncements, calling them nonsensical. He said Wandale was promoting anarchy. He has been a teacher, a nurse, and a social entrepreneur. He is now using development engineering to provide fellow Malawians clean energy and an opportunity to free themselves from economic hardship. He did a Master of Development Engineering program at UC Berkeley in the USA. While at CCSF, he volunteered for six months in the unit serving patients with HIV/AIDS, learning about U.S. patients. He studied for the University of San Francisco’s undergrad nursing program, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2011. He worked at the San Francisco Department of Public Health’s Medical Respite & Sobering Center, aiding those who were discharged from the hospital and needing housing or social services as well as those passed out on the street and smelling of alcohol. He now currently stays at his farm, off the Santhe – Mchinji road. </video> <video> Cruise with Rev Dr Matilda Matabwa Description: Reverend Dr. Matilda Tumalike Matabwa is a lady who wears many hats. She is the Secretary General of Malawi Assemblies of God, Lead Pastor of Area 47 Eagles Cathedral which is number 3 church on the list of churches in Malawi Assemblies of God, the Board Chairperson for Roads Authority in Malawi and an author. She has recently authored a book entitled Waxing Great - Prospering in Unprosperous Times. In the interview she talks about how she manages her time with the many responsibilities she has besides being a mother and wife. Among other things, she is also an Executive Board Member of the Public Affairs Committee, executive Member of African Women Leaders Network Malawi Chapter, Commissioner at Malawi Human Rights Commission Gender and Women Rights Thematic Committee, Executive Board Member of Evangelical Association of Malawi, Council Member at Emmanuel University, and an executive Member of various religious bodies across the world. She is the Chairperson for Women in Faith in Malawi and Secretary General for Southern Africa Assemblies of God Alliance (SAAGA). </video> <video> Cruise 5 with Amess Mwamdaza Nthala, founder of Hope for Widows Malawi. Description: Meet Amess Mwamdaza Nthala, founder of Hope for Widows Malawi. Widowed at the age of 26 at the time when she and her husband were both students at the Baptist Theological Seminary of Malawi. She started Hope for Widows to provide community and to empower widows to financially support their families. The women come from both Christian and Muslim backgrounds. She and the women at Hope for Widows developed a microfinance program where they contribute financially to one another and support the launch of members’ new small businesses. The widows are also trained to sew, knit and make jewellery and doormats. Her organization, which is operating in three centers, has managed to support over 500 widows socially and economically within a period of seven years. </video> <video> CRUISE 5 TIONGE MTAMBO AUGUST 6 2023 Description: Tionge Mtambo is the Head Teacher at Tondola Primary School in Chitipa and she is the founder for Girl Rise Initiative Malawi. She is not her ordinary headteacher, she is probably the youngest female primary school headteacher in Malawi. I understand in 2009 when she was 15 years old, she was married off to a man who was much older than her. He was 46 years old and had married two other wives, meaning she would be a third. This was when she was in Form Two at Chitipa Secondary School. At Nahayombo Primary School she used her salary to purchase essential resources, such as charts, markers, and supplementary books for learning. Together with her students, she introduced several innovations in the classroom, such as science corners, nature tables, and shopping corners, to make learning more interactive and engaging. After graduation as an Initial Primary Teacher [IPTE] and Open Distance Learning [ODL] at Karonga Teachers Training College she was posted to teach in the border with Tanzania, Kameme Ilengo primary school, a school which had no girl child from standard 6 to 8 because all girls was married. She sourced funds to provide school uniforms for underprivileged learners, resulting in a zero absenteeism rate. All her 2022 standard 8 candidates passed their exams, achieving a 100% pass rate. She is now raising funds for the construction of a classroom block to provide her learners with a proper learning facility. She is the founder of Girl Rise Initiative Malawi, a newly registered organization. This is a female led-led organization focused on keeping girls in school as education is a crucial factor in breaking the cycle of poverty and achieving gender equality. In 2017, the Royal Commonwealth Society awarded her a certificate, recognizing her contributions to the education sector. In 2022 she received an award from World Vision, which was another milestone in her teaching career. This recognition came as a result of her outstanding performance as a teacher. During World Teachers' Day celebrations, she was awarded as an outstanding teacher, a testimony to her unwavering dedication and commitment to the teaching profession. </video> <video> CRUISE 5 WITH CONSTABLE HAMID VASCO 8 OCTOBER 2023 Description: Hamid Vasco is one of the two first police officers with albinism. He tells the story of how he grew up as a young child with albinism, living in constant fear of being abducted or killed. But Vasco is a rare breed, despite those challenges he strives to live a normal life, playing social football, working in the cane fields, singing in the choir and all the other things. He was later encouraged by a friend to sign up for a job as a Police Officer, after a lot of hesitation he went for it and was picked. He went through a grueling training as a police officer and managed to pass out as a constable.
