Also the famous Du Cane Court which the nazis and and Adolf Hitler wanted to use as their HQ (apparently!). Then there's the 211 club frequented by The Krays and the miracles of Fatima!! We see some cool little things you might miss like writing on the wall left over from teh second world war. The sewing machine museum is a lot of fun and they even have a barrel organ. There's the Tooting Bec Lido which was the biggest fresh water pool in the UK and then there's the famous Victorian Whodunnit! The murder of Charles Bravo or was it? It was never solved! We also go to the Balham Bowls Club and generally enjoy some Balham Banter whilst seeing a lot of stink pipes and the underground river, the Falcon Brook. We take a walk from Hackney Central around the back streets and down to Broadway Market near London Fields where we also visit one of London's weirdest museums. Viktor Wynde's Museum of Curiosity is a treasure trove of weird and wonderful items which will freak you out. Hackney Empire which has played host to many musical and comedy stars since 1901 including Marie Lloyd and Stand Laurel. The churchyard with many fancy tombs and interesting people buried there. Then there's the fabulous Umit & Son film shop where you can find many old classic cameras and even a cinema. There's a Tudor house, Sutton House, the oldest in Hackney, a round church, the Burberry outlet store and more stink pipes and other random little discoveries. I couldn't believe what an absolutely stunning place it is. Just head into the village and you are surrounded by parks and history. Oliver Reed has a big connection with the area and you can even do the Oliver reed pub crawl but there is also a wonderful stables from the 19th century and lots of places to hang out. Of course we had to visit the tennis championships too at the All England Club for Pimms and strawberries with cream, but we also went to the place where it all started. There's a windmill and a Thai Bhuddist temple too! Herne Hill is near Brixton, Denmark Hill and Dulwich but feels like it's a village in the countryside.
