In this episode we are testing the spruce bruce out in a storm, it performed well, very well. Stable and warm, a few leaks from the alterations that were done, but I expected this to happen. Also, the dogs smell a deer, first deer for them and they were awesome. Also a primitive fire session using a bow drill and stuff Primitive fire is challenging at the best of times, especially here in New Zealand as we have so much moisture and dry suitable wood is hard to find sometimes. It's a great skill to have but needs to be practiced for consistent results, as you can see I don't practice much at all, as I usually take a lighter or 3 along on adventures. The hunting in this particular area is extremely challenging as the public land is shit as, mainly thick scrub and steep and dry and barren, its massive country and has been hammered with 1080 over the years. Deer numbers are low and good genetics are few and far between, further upriver there are blocks on private land that get balloted out, but even those are hard hunting due to the nature of the terrain. New Zealand does have some massive stags kicking around but they are few and far between. Charlie is a weapon and has come a long way in the few years he has been hunting and fishing.
