Musician and event organizer Jim Pack said the first tuba-only Christmas concert was performed 49 years ago in 1974. The tuba players performed a wide variety of traditional Christmas music for the audience sitting around the bandstand in lounge chairs. A gray sky and coolish temperatures in the low 70s gave the event as close to a Winter Wonderland feel as you'll find in Southwest Florida. Nicole is certainly a contributing factor to the streets and property flooding, but these neighborhoods have also flooded in the past due to king tides -- higher than normal tides due to the alignment of the moon and sun tugging on the ocean -- and sea level rise.
