As the flight got closer we realized the weather was going to be below VFR minimums which led to me filing IFR the night before. All weather reports were showing that the visibility was going to be around 1 1/2 to 3 miles for our time slot which was going to be enough to get out and in. On the day we saw the conditions were worse than expected which led to a long wait and ultimately a decision to cancel the flight. It's a simple video but I think an important one to show that just because you can get out of an airport under IFR, doesn't necessarily mean you can get back in. In this example the visibility was too low for any approach back in, so if we took off and needed to return for any reason, we wouldn't be able to. To remain instrument current under the FAA the pilot must have flown 6 instrument approaches, logged a holding procedure and intercepted and tracked courses all within the preceding 6 months of the flight. My currency is about to expire so it's high time I get up and get it all done. I'm LewDix and I make flying FUN!

I am a CFI/CFII and ATP rated pilot whose goal is to be the best at what I do, and have a lot of fun along the way. I thoroughly enjoy flying and instructing, which is why my videos are where you will find the most fun filled aviation content on YouTube. I originally set out to record my progress through instrument training, but as time has passed my goal has shifted. I got bored of watching flying videos that lacked any sort of personality. So I set out to inspire pilots and students by showing how much fun I have in the aviation world.
