Legendary Pizza in Argentina Description: Join us for epic pizza slices in Buenos Aires, Argentina at Banchero Restaurante which has a legendary reputation amongst locals. We continue our pizza challenge in Buenos Aires, Argentina with a visit to a pizza parlor located on Corrientes avenue. We are now at Pizzeria Banchero where I ordered the Fernet with pepsi. It is a medicinal tasting alcoholic beverage that is popular in Cordoba but originates from Italy. So I mixed it with Pepsi but typically it is done with coke. It is an interesting drink that has grown on me over the years with its medicinal flavor. So we tried 4 more slices with faina on top. We grabbed the anchovies pizza slices and one with spinach and a cream sauce on top. And then we got Fuggaza with onions and no cheese. No cheese on it. We've always wondered what is the difference. They are the creators of the fuggazetta. They created it. We gotta get the real deal. And then we got a slice of mozzarella with faina on top. Audrey tried the anchovies pizza. This one had less tomato sauce compared to other places. She preferred it with more sauce but loved the dough. It is a good slice of pizza. Next up we digged into the mozzarella. Pizza dough with faina on top with chickpea paste. It had no sauce. Just pure cheese. First time we encountered that at Banchero. I tried to spinach slice with cream sauce instead of tomato sauce. It has a cream sauce instead. We moved on to the fugezzetta. With just onions. Maybe they would chop the onions finer. What do you think of it? Both good. Nice and juicy. I preferred the classic slices. We were both stuffed. The bill was only 625 pesos which was $10 USD which was 4 slices, faina, soda water and fernet with pepsi. A great deal. Totally stuffed. This is our Patagonia pizza review where we also try dessert in El Bolson, Argentina. Right now we're eating at Confiteria La Renia. They specialize in pastries and cakes and we thought about pizza. Patagonia pizza! Mozzarella cheese, cooked ham, bacon, fried eggs (4 of them). The egg was nice and runny on top of the pizza. Patagonian pizza is delicious! We were so hungry after hiking all morning long. With dessert also on our minds. The pieces of pizza were so incredibly thick! It was thick chunks of bacon. I just used my hands to devour it! Called it all the cheese in the world! I was full caveman eating it. We came for the desserts but loved the pizza. For dessert we tried chocolate spongecake. It was a very moist cake. My cake had a fruit glaze. With a layer of cake. It was a thick dense cake. A bit more like a tart to be honest. The dulce de leche was so tasty. We went into a food coma after this. Milanesa Chicken Suprema + Dulce de Leche Ice Cream! Description: Come join us for a huge portion meal at an Argentine Bodegon where we devoured Milanesa Chicken Suprema and then went for gourmet ice cream for dessert. For lunch we went to an Argentine Bodegon for classic Argentine cuisine where the portions are always massive. We ended up ordering the Milanesa el Bodegon which is their specialty. I ended up getting the suprema which is basically chicken breast that has been breaded and fried. It has tomato sauce, mozzerrella, bacon, fried eggs and as sides we got a squash puree. So we also ordered empanadas as well. We got fried empanadas with meat. We got the ham and cheese ones. The cheese just oozed out of the empanada. There was so much ham in the empanada. We loved it! Good empanadas are stuffed to the max. We loved the appetizers. The Milanesa was spilling out over the plate. So it actually was a suprema. I love this kind of food. Hearty Argentine food to the max. When you've got a huge appetite this is what you'd want to eat in the fall. The pumpkin mash went really nice with it. It was a great meal. I felt like a beached whale afterwards. We ended up paying $14 USD for the entire meal which was a good deal. For dessert we decided on delicious Argentine ice cream at Helados Jauja. I ordered Merengeche which had dulce de leche with meringue. Audrey got chocolate and a mouse with berries from the forest. We ended up ordering a 1/4 of a kilo. We're supreme pigs for ice cream. Dulce de leche is the best flavor in all of Argentina in my opinion. It had such a rich flavor. It is creamy and refreshing. Huge Portion Meal at an Argentine Bodegon! We had some fans meet us on the streets as we entered Bariloche from the outskirts. We kick things off with a visit to Mamuschka where you can get different kinds of chocolates to go or sit down in a cafe to enjoy them served with a hot drink. We ended up ordering tea and hot chocolate. The goodies arrived at the table with a sampler platter of four different pastries each which gave us eight things to try. So the hot chocolate was the real deal - thick, rich, chocolate like melting a chocolate bar in the cup. Audrey ordered the Assam tea from India to help cut the sugar. I tried a pastry filled with custard that reminded me a Boston cream. I tried something that looked like a mini alfajor which had dulce de leche at the bottom. It is probably good we don't live in Bariloche given how tasty all of this was. I tried a cheesecake bite which was delicious. Everything tasted delicious. Audrey tried the hot chocolate and it reminded her of hot chocolate in Madrid. Like a meal in a bowl in terms of calories. We paid $8.50 USD for the drinks and food. We then headed to Rapa Nui ice cream shop to try ice cream. I ordered chocolate and hazelnuts and dulce de leche with goat's milk. Audrey ordered forest fruits raspberry with chocolate and meringue along with Patagonia berries. Very tart. The dulce de leche was my favorite. You can also buy chocolates and go skating around a rink. It came to $4 USD or $2 each. This was the smallest size available. We then went into the Rapa Nui cafe to try franui. Fra-nui. Raspberries covered in white chocolate and milk chocolate. They're famous! We also tried tea. I got the Pakistan tea with cinnamon, cardamon and ginger. It was powerful and zesty. Audrey ordered the Belgian nugget along with almonds and hazelnuts. So you can see a plump raspberry in the middle. So that was $6 USD for cups of tea and chocolate raspberries. Next we moved on to the Havanna Cafe (Fabrica de Chocolate). We visited the museum of chocolate. A factory, cafe and museum. We had more hot chocolate which was even thicker. Basically chocolate mud. We saw these animals made entirely out of chocolate weighing 70 to 80 to 90 kilograms. We then toured the museum to the shop and we got a discount based on the admission costs. We bought chocolate trufas. Basically chocolate truffles with various ingredients. We grabbed a cup of coffee to get a second wind. We ended up buy gifts for our friend in El Bolson. We kick things off with a chop which is beer in Argentina on a hot summer's day. Having just arrived from Patagonia we needed to cool off. So we got four pizza slices in total. We started off with Mozzarella and anchovies. Audrey's reaction was that it was delicious - especially the cheesiest and really thick dough as well. It had a bit of a soupy layer. A different dough that was a doughy dough. I tried two different pizza slices. I got the classic mozzarella and fugazzeta. That was the cheesiest slice I had on the whole pizza challenge. It was a cheesy affair. Now I know why this is one of the most famous pizzerias in all of Buenos Aires, Argentina. There is a special pizza they make with lots of ingredients including tuna but you need to order the entire pizza pie. The price for everything was $8.50 USD and our verdict is that it was the cheapest and the best. Amazing quality and amazing price. We highly recommend eating pizza here if you're visiting Buenos Aires, Argentina. Best Pizza in Buenos Aires? Description: In today's episode we try Argentine pizza at Pizzería Güerrín in Buenos Aires, Argentina in search of the best pizza in Buenos Aires. Pizzeria Guerrin is a true institution in Buenos, Aires. Located on avenida corrientes (Corrientes avenue) in the theatre district area, people have been coming for slices of pizza for decade upon decade. The classic atmosphere and traditional menu featuring numerous types of Argentine pizza is what brings in the crowds. They've been around since 1932 so it is 90 years old now. We ordered up five different slices Pomorolo, Mozzarella, Napolitana, Faina and Pizza Guerrin. The first slice that classic was loaded with all kinds of different ingredients including ham. The dough is quite doughy and less buttery being more dense. Audrey then tried the Napolitana with slices of tomato and loads of cheese and oregano. The pizza's at Guerrin are even more cheesier than other pizzerias in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Pomorola had tomato sauce with onions on top. Sweet onions and sweet tomato sauce. I then take the faina and put it on top of the slice. It is a bite of pizza with chickpea paste. I didn't love the faina to be honest. It fills you up faster to say the least. I preferred it ones its own. The price point was just under 600 pesos which was just under $10USD which was a great deal. We'd highly recommend Pizzeria Guerrin if you're in Buenos Aires, Argentina! After hiking we decided to order some starters including empanadas fritas (fried empanada) along with a bread basket and some wine to go along with it. We have a special salsa with beetroot having one of our favourite wines to go along with it. The brand is Alma Mora. The empanadas were crispy on the outside and juicy in the middle. We also ordered salad with it. We got the Parrilla for just one person and it was a mixed grill that was big enough for more than just the two of us. We had a cute dog arrive at our table to enjoy morels of meat. So we ended up with vacio, chorizo, lamb (cordero), asado de tira along with many other cuts. We ordered pumpkin mash as a side. It was awesome! It goes nicely with the meat. It was a wonderful meal. The meat portions in Argentina are enormous. We loved pouring chimichurri on top of the meat. Patagonia is most known for its lamb (cordero) so we really enjoyed trying that. This was really tender meat. The intestines were okay and my first time to try it was in Peru. Asado de tira was my favourite cut of meat of all. Overall, totally delicious. And for dessert we had flan casero which came with a giant portion of dulce de leche. We found the quality of everything was amazing. If you come to El Bolson you've gotta come here! Whenever we visit Buenos Aires, we tend to find a few local spots serving up great food and drinks at affordable prices. Resident cafe was exactly that and more. We also tried their lunch menu which was decent. I ended up ordering the completo tostado which we called the greedy guts breakfast which came with toast, soda water, fresh squeezed orange juice, jam and cookies. Audrey grabbed the medialunas and cafe con leche. The cups of coffee are so big we felt like we were getting a 2-1 special and the quality of the coffee in Buenos Aires is second to none. Medialunas come in salty or sweet variety but we prefer the sweet one usually. Price point for the breakfast came 350 Pesos which was $5.80 USD. What a bargain for such a feast! That actually included a second cup of coffee. We'd highly recommend this place for the intersection of great food and the right price. We ate Bife de Chorizo and Vacio! Description: Thanks to our host we received a recommendation to check out De Maria Parrilla in Esquel, Chubut, Argentina. We ordered Bife de Chorizo and Vacio. We also ordered a salad with beetroots, carrot and egg. And as an appetizer we had a lovely bread basket presented to our table. We also got white beans, lentil paste and some mayo. I was totally craving parrilla so this meal was just what we wanted. We tried Carcassonne red wine for lunch. It was the cheapest house wine available but it was decent. It was a potent red for the argentine asado. We are feasting on the beef. The vacio looked amazing. It was super juicy. So I tried my bife de chorizo. Very generous portion. My first bite was without chimichurri. I got eat this all day every day. Then I drowned it with chimichurri. It was next level garlic. So that came to just under $30 USD for the entire meal. Description: Join us for amazing pizza in Buenos Aires, Argentina as we head over to famous pizzeria El Cuartito where we try 5 difference slices of pizza. It holds a special places in our hearts because it was the first pizzeria Audrey and I ate at in Buenos Aires many years ago. El Cuartito has been serving up delicious pizza slices since 1934 so it is approaching 90 years soon. More than 3 generations of Argentinians have been eating at this pizzeria. The place was absolutely packed at 3pm. We ordered numerous pizza slices and wine. We ended up going for Bodegas Lopez wines. In terms of pizza slices we tried: 1) Anchovy Pizza (salty with no cheese) X 2 slices! 2) Morrone - Mozzarrella and Red Pepper 3) Fugazzeta - Multiple layers of cheese and onions 4) Mozzarella - plain cheese pizza Our bill came to 790 pesos which at the time of exchange was only $13 US dollars.
