We are cast a new concrete foundation for the posts, build a new frame and refurbished the old gates so we can use them again. We are also going to make a French drain at the sheep feeding station so they don’t have to stand on wet soil when they eat this winter. We are also going to fit brand new LED lights on our tractor both in the front and rare so it is ready to be used to clear snow this winter. For those that are new here my name is Eirik. Description: In this video vi continue on the restauration of our 100-year-old barn by preparing the top of the old stone walls for concrete. Before we can build anything on the old walls, we need a level base to build on. During our last video we made the framework and made sure that they where level. Now it is time to start laying rebar and securing it to the stones below so that the foundation is strong enough to handle the weight of the new building. When it was ready we started to mix concrete. Let’s just say that this was an exhausting job as all the concrete had to be caried up a later and poured by hand in the forms. We also fixed up the smallest chicken coop by laying new bedding in their outside pen and fixed up their purge and we fixed all the pot holes in our road so that the truck that delivered all our concrete did not get stuck. Description: The summer is here and the grass is long. That means that it is finally time to make hay for the winter. All our hard work on the fields has led up to this moment. The harvest. This year we have even bought our self a new mower to help us cut the grass. A Bucher M200. This is to prevent the same issues as last summer when our 70-year-old mower broke down at a critical moment and we had to cut the entire field by hand with a scythe. Our goal for this farm was to bring this back from the sorry state it was left in and make this into the farm of our dreams. Description: A record backing about of snow has fallen over our farm or homestead if you will here on the vest side of Norway. We are completely snowed in as none of the roads are drivable. We need to find and tend our animals and open up the roads so that my wife and kids can get to work, school and kindergarten. We use all day and out trusty Fiat 440 tractor to clear snow all day and finally we can drive on the roads again. Then a new storm comes rolling in and the farm flood. Fencing is a big task this month as we race to complete the permanent fence run around my neighbor’s house. We have some new life on our farm as we by a priced big ram and our chicken’s hatch. It did not go as planned. Our old farm was fighting us every step of the way. While we are working, we get our first snow of the winter, the temperature cripes under -12°C and the tires on our wheelbarrow exploded. The biggest obstacle was however sticking the tractor in the march. Will we be able to get it out of there? Before we started this job, we finally got some use out of our restored twin wheel as we found an alternative way to mount them on the tractor.
