We landed in Makemo in May and visited 5 other atolls, Kauehi, Fakarava (great night shark dive in the south pass), Toau, Apataki (huge surf) and the biggest atoll Rangiroa. Then we were in the societies (Tahiti, Huahine, Tahaa, Bora Bora, Maupiti and Maupihaa) which was a nice blend of atoll and island. Maupiti was our favourite place. Then we went to Swarrow, a nature reserve with 2 resident rangers in the Cook Islands. Then we went to the island country of Niue with unlimited underwater visibility, pristine coral, baby humpback whales, caverns and chasms. Breathtaking! From there, we traveled to Neiafu (with dozens of protected anchorages), Pangai in the Haipai region and Nuku’alofa, all 3 regions in Tonga. Next was Minerva Reef for 20 hours before we embarked on the notorious passage to NZ. Update: Laurie was ejected from the boat in late April 2019 after almost 3 glorious years of exploring and discovery.
