I had been heading home from LA when I heard the train would be “wying at Montalvo.” I personally didn’t know what was meant by that, as to if they were wying the whole train, a few cars, or just the engines. So I got out of the car over by Johnson drive to wait for them. The engines and a few cars pulled up past the west leg of the wye and shoved the cars back into the station track. The engines then detached and left the wye the way they came, I didn’t know they were going to do this so I ended up hopping over a wall 4 times to get from the station to johnson drive as part of the line was fenced off and impossible to pass. I was lucky and thankful to be offered a ride from a buddy of mine and we chased the train up toward Carpinteria, as they would be tying down near Capitan for the night due to some complications with the somebody on board not being able to tie near the air force base. I was originally going to get a flyby shot at the lumber yard just south of here but decided it would be cool to try and get some pacing shots along the 34. Lighting wasn’t an ally for this pace but the horn and other sounds from the train made it all worth it. </video>
