The Public Service Broadcasting Trust, a not-for-profit, nurtured and supported the production of independent documentary films, for over twenty years, mentoring 500+ mostly young, starting out talents. Rajiv Mehrotra, its founding Managing Trustee and Commissioning Editor, with a small team, produced over 700 documentary films travelling to over 1960 film festivals worldwide, winning more than 345 Awards, including 54 National Film Awards from the President of India - despite modest budgets that averaged US$ 5000 per half-hour film. PSBT was led by some of India's iconic film personalities - Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Mrinal Sen, Shyam Benegal and Sharmila Tagore, with Fali Nariman and Kiran Karnik.
