Description: Update: December 14th Last week I introduced you Mr. Robert Buchanan Robert lost his home on September 27th during hurricane Helene Since then, he has been homeless. Living off of a hotel voucher that was set to run out mid December. This is a song written by Seth Abel. Seth is a local here in the Swannanoa Valley. He plays on the worship team at our church with my wife Amy. When he sent me this song, it told the story perfectly. Our story. When he first sent it to me, I could see all these clips and many more from Hurricane Helene playing in my mind. I blown away. His next message said that he’d love to have a haunting fiddle with it. That’s where Jacinta comes in. Jacinta has been volunteering with Valley Strong Disaster Relief every day for the last couple months. She’s a native of the Chimney Rock/Lake Lure area. When the storm happened she was staying with her grandmother in Long Island, and felt a strong pull to come back home to WNC. She left her job and has been volunteering here ever since. Here is a testament to how every single need has been met by THE PEOPLE. When Seth said he’d like to have a fiddle on this song, TWO DAYS LATER I learned that Jacinta was a fiddle player. She said the bow on her fiddle was broken. Here’s the next mind blowing part. ONE HAD BEEN DONATED TO SILVERADOS. This has been a very special project for me. It felt really good to be a little part of music again. A life long Swannanoa resident. He and his wife lost everything on September 27th. Their survival story is incredible. They are looking for help getting their new double wide set up. After losing their home, a new one was given to them by an anonymous donor. Since this video was made this morning, they got news that someone should be coming to pour their footers this weekend if everything works out. After those are done, all they’ll need is for someone to raise their doublewide on to the footers, and then it can be set and trimmed. #wnc </video> <video> Day 74. Today I was able to deliver a gift to Jim, from a lady named Seretta from Kentucky. I can’t wait to have is concert at Silverados with Valley Strong Disaster Relief and Trinity Pharms. Description: January 13, 2025 Over the last 4 or 5 days, Amy has been working nonstop directly with other citizens and grassroots organizations to obtain information about local hotel vouchers running out The extension was set to end tomorrow morning. There is a large list of hotels supporting these families with these vouchers, and hundreds are facing being asked to leave tomorrow. The rest of them run out on the 24th. So ultimately hundreds of people have nowhere to go in the morning. This is how far $9,484.09 goes right now in WNC. Thank you all for you support to Valley Strong Disaster Relief You kept 11 families out of the cold and in hotel rooms for another week.
