Description: This week we start metal detecting a new farm for us. The original farmhouse dates back to 1735 and there was a smaller starter home there even earlier than that. The surrounding fields have been farmed for centuries, and before the invention of gas powered tractors, all the plowing, seeding, watering, pruning, and harvesting would have been done by hand, which means lots of human activity took place in each row we walk. Description: Several months ago when the fields were all planted we metal detected a beautiful early 1700's farmhouse. We found all sorts of colonial treasures like early large cents, shoe buckles, crotal bells, tombac buttons, and so much more. The yard surrounding the house was about 3/4 of an acre, but we knew once the fields were cut that the 150 acre fields would give up a lot more treasures since htey were worked by hand for centuries! Description: Every winter for several years now we've been metal detecting this really speical location that we call The Field of 1,000 Holes. If you look back through my library of videos there has to be over 25 episodes from just this one place. Over the years there's been hundreds of tokens found here, tons of silver coins, silver spoons, buttons, buckles, political memorabilia, kids toys, pins, rings, bracelets, religious charms, and so many more items going back 100 years or so that we truly have dug well over 1,000 holes here! Besides the finds alone, this place also has extremely sandy soil which doesn't seem to freeze as quickly as all the surrounding fields, and after each planting season the farmer also does a deep plow to turn the soil over which in turn also brings more items up from the depth making it somewhat new again.
