He wanted to give a couple of his young American Brabant draft horses some experience skidding logs. The bay horse, Asterix, is a three-year-old stallion imported from Germany and the blue roan horse, Kitty, is a four-year-old daughter of one of Jason's mares, Eve, and his highly successful stallion, Conan. Kitty is due in April with a foal sired by Asterix. Both horses performed like seasoned veterans. </video> <video> Horse Logging Learning Day at Tim Christopher’s Description: Each year Tim Christopher cuts enough firewood logs to keep a crew of teamsters, many inexperienced at horse logging, busy skidding at his Decorah, Iowa, ranch. They use horses, mules and donkeys put to a variety of log arches and forecasts. None of the loads are particularly heavy and they are not competing to get the most done the fastest. It is a leisurely day for them to enjoy working their animals in the woods. The audio was too poor to use from the shoot so, sorry for the soundtrack.
