The level has three checkpoints, which divide the level into four stages: main theme, transition, subordinate theme, and closing section. 2. The level divides horizontally into a lower altitude range, which represents the stable main key of C minor, and a higher altitude range, which represents the less stable subordinate key of E-flat major. 3. In Beethoven's Fifth, the first checkpoint is achieved with a half cadence, which is on the dominant chord, as represented by the relatively high precipice within the lower altitude range. 4. The leap over the chasm to the second checkpoint represents the medial caesura, a gap of silence that divides a sonata-form exposition into two parts. Indeed, the video game offers the encouragement: "Half way there. Don't give up now!" 5.
