It was back on Jan. 10 when Bennett allegedly followed Appling-France to a Target store in Cleveland. When Appling-France’s driver pulled the vehicle into her apartment complex near Detroit Avenue and Berea Road, Skanes and Beasley were waiting for her to arrive. According to multiple witnesses and Boone herself, the couple's relationship was plagued with violence. Elijah’s autopsy showed he suffered facial and scalp injuries, acute fentanyl intoxication, malnourishment and pressure ulcers. Prosecutors said Elijah was tortured and neglected. He was confined for long periods of time in a bathroom tub, often naked, and monitored via video. In the end, he couldn’t stand, they said, showing photos of him over a 16-month period getting progressively thinner. One of his eyes was shut in the last photo. Dauphinais was divorced from Elijah’s father, who had been caring for the boy in Arizona. He brought Elijah to her in New Hampshire in May 2020. Her lawyers said the child had “severe psychiatric issues” and neither parent got him an evaluation. An Ottawa County man learned his sentence after he allegedly exposed himself to two young employees at a Georgetown Township ice cream shop. Robert Linscott, 68, pleaded no contest to multiple charges earlier this month. Monday, he was sentenced to one year in jail for a misdemeanor and 36 months probation for felony aggravated indecent exposure. The charges against him go back to an incident on June 23. Linscott allegedly went to What's the Scoop Ice Cream Shop on Baldwin Street and ordered ice cream. He sat at a table inside the store and later exposed himself out of the bottom of his shorts to the 19-year-old employee, documents say. He is also accused of touching himself while watching the employee. Linscott left the store and detectives were unable to identify him. Chance was convicted of second-degree murder and dismembering a body. Prosecutors say he killed Young in his Franklin Street SE apartment in late November and then dismembered her body. Maylia Sotelo pleaded no contest to three charges: first-degree reckless homicide by delivery of drugs, party to the crime of manufacturing or delivering fentanyl, and possession of fentanyl with intent. The 17-year-old could have received 95 years in prison if she received the maximum sentence on all the charges laid out consecutively. Prosecutors called the teen the “largest identified drug dealer of fentanyl” in Brown County schools. The victim was an 18-year-old who was found dead in his grandparents’ home in December 2022. Police traced a message on his phone to a girl who admitted the 18-year-old arranged to buy Percocet from Sotelo, who was 15 at the time. Investigators found a shoebox in Sotelo’s bedroom containing 775 fentanyl pills.
