Day In The Life Of A Contractor Behind The Scenes Description: Today we install tile on our Hanford project--this is a gunite swimming pool, walls are shot with steel wire, making the walls very straight allowing us to move straight to thinset. In some cases pools may need to be floated if the walls aren't straight. This is 6x6 porcelain pool tile, very simple to install and needs very few cuts--we utilized a tile cut board and a grinder on site! Swimming pool gunite is the swimming pool's concrete shell, this is applied after steel/rebar has been installed. Gunite consists of sand + cement + and water, it's all mixed together at the nozzle as it's blasted on the surface.
