In 1933, the Swedish company Landsverk released its new six-wheeled armored car on the defense market which caught the attention of two neutral countries, Lithuania and the Netherlands. Both countries acquired the armored cars, and both were unfortunately subsequently occupied by Germany and the Soviet Union, which inherited their Landsverk stock. Thus, despite low numbers produced, the Landsverk 181 found itself in the service of four different nations, being used on multiple fronts until the end of the war. Ever since the 1970s, and increasingly so in the next decades, a vast program was carried out to create a large and diverse fleet of vehicles. Starting from systems purchased from the Soviet Union and China, North Korea has increasingly introduced its own systems, some of which are actually mostly indigenous and somewhat competitive, notably the 240 mm systems first seen in the 1980s. In recent years, the even larger 300 mm KN-09, with seemingly very long-range, high accuracy, and large warheads, has been introduced. However, these larger and longer-range systems sometimes obscure the large quantities of much simpler but still important systems. These provide the Korean People’s Army with the close-range firepower saturation it needs to hope to deliver large quantities of suppression to enemy forces. They are largely needed as North Korea is vastly unable to deliver suppressive firepower through other means considering the general obsolescence of the Korean People’s Army Air Force. Perhaps the most common light mobile Multiple Rocket Launcher System in service in the Korean People’s Army is the 107 mm Type 63 MLRS mounted on the Sungri-61NA truck, both of which are very common equipment of the KPA on their own. Despite its obsolescence, it saw action across all fronts where Italian forces were engaged. One of its notable deployments was the Italian invasion of Greece, which commenced on 28th October 1940. The Italians began their invasion with the attack on the Greek north-western Epirus region from the occupied Albania. Their attack, however, immediately grinded to a halt, as staunch Greek defenders managed to effectively exploit the rugged and mountainous terrain of the region. After stopping the invaders, the Greek forces went on the counter-offensive, pushing the Italians back to the Albanian border and beyond. As they advanced, they captured a considerable amount of Italian war material, much of which was immediately put to use by the comparatively poorly equipped Greek army. Among the captured and reused equipment were several Carri Armati L3 tanks, which the Greeks incorporated into their own forces. These circumstances created a pressing need to develop new vehicles capable of fulfilling specialized combat roles at minimal cost. One such requirement was for a heavily armored personnel carrier (APC) to transport specialized "flamethrower" troops on the battlefield. Given budget constraints, designing a new vehicle from scratch was not feasible. Instead, a solution was found in redesigning an already existing vehicle to fit this special role. A main battle tank, for instance, could be repurposed to become an armored personnel carrier fit for transporting troops while offering a decent amount of protection, and what better tank to choose for this endeavor than the iconic T-72? Maintaining this arsenal posed a significant financial burden, as much of the equipment was outdated. Consequently, a large portion was mothballed with the intention of either being scrapped, sold abroad, or potentially modernized. Regarding the vast inventory of tanks, the Ukrainian Army decided to retain the T-64 while selling off its stockpile of T-62 and T-72 tanks. However, by the 2000s, even the T-64 was considered an outdated design, and maintaining the vast fleet strained the military budget. To address this problem, Ukraine initiated several projects based on recycling the abundant T-64 chassis, including the effort to turn the tank into a new, heavy armored personnel carrier (HAPC). This vehicle was designated BMP-K-64. The project, however, never progressed beyond a single prototype. A delegation was sent to the United Kingdom in search of a suitable and affordable tank design, which eventually led to the Polish Army acquiring 38 of Vickers-Armstrongs' newly developed 6-ton tanks in the early 1930s. However, this initiative did not come to fruition, leading the Poles to turn to the British Vickers company instead. Vickers offered Poland its twin-turreted Vickers Mark E tank. Despite some engine overheating issues, the Poles were generally satisfied with its performance and subsequently placed an order for 38 tanks. In Polish service, these tanks were designated as Vickers E Type A. The delivery of these tanks took some time, with the last vehicles arriving in Poland in 1934.
