Fairly recently, Apple updated Final Cut Pro to include a suite of color grading tools to better compete with other programs like Adobe Premiere and Da Vinci Resolve. While it still doesn’t come close in terms of the total list of features, Final Cut Pro color grading tools are capable of achieving beautiful film grades if you know how to use all of the tools available! The purpose of this video is to introduce you to all of the main tools available and give examples to help you visualize what you could do with the tools in Final Cut Pro to grade your footage. We go through the color board, color curves, color wheels, and the Hue/Saturation Curves, as well as the graphs available in FCPX! Many tutorials don't give you this flexibility or don't use the proper aspect ratio, so I wanted to share how I do it. I understand there are also apps out there that help with this, but they generally require you to pay to remove a watermark and don't give you as clean of a workflow as this. Outstanding for filters as well and making quick adjustments. Adobe Photoshop Mix allows you create incredible composite photos. I use it all the time for overlays and text! Lens Distortions has an awesome selection of overlays that add flare to your photos with flares, weather elements, all sorts of great effects! I had the chance to go as a second shooter for Josh Yeo from Make. Art. Now., hence why the VAST majority of my shots are all of him! That was the main reason I was there! We had a limited amount of time to run around the island, but we were able to film with some awesome filmmakers and tech reviewers like iJustine, Becki and Chris, Cody Blue, Sidney Diongzon, Same Sheffer, Potato Jet, Levi Allen, Kraig Adams, Armando Ferreira, YCImaging, BooredatWork, Atola Visuals, Kintotika and a whole bunch more that I wish I could have filmed in our limited time. Josh and I managed to get into a helicopter, which ended up being some of the best footage we got through the day. The 120FPS slow motion, the vlogging screen, the auto focus, these are what made it such an awesome camera in my opinion. If this was my first camera, I might be torn due to the lack on in-body stabilization, but it’s still a great camera if you can afford to purchase stabilized glass with it. MAKE. ART.
