I headed out to to Seattle and then the tiny town of Quilcene for the Bon Jon Pass Out gravel race courtesy of my friends at Rene Herse Cycles with the invitation. With some inclement weather in store, we didn't know what to expect, climbing from sea level to just shy of 4,000 feet elevation, especially given the forecast for lightning, hail, and worse! It can be sunny and warm or live up to its name as a muddy quagmire of an affair. Iceman is a massive event with 5,500 riders and 12,000 spectators. As if that's not enough to focus on, I made my way to Traverse City, Michigan by way of a cross-country, long-haul road trip in a very short window of time, flying from Vermont to Seattle, then ripping across the northern US to Iceman. Visit join.whoop.com/ted </video> <video> Three Incredible Days Riding the Alps Description: On the tail end of a trip to Italy, I had the luxury of riding from the northwest Piedmont, Italy region to Verbier, Switzerland. This involved a massive trip over San Bernard Pass over the course of a 130 mile day. That route is seen here: https://www.strava.com/activities/12418661629 Then on our first day in Switzerland, we rented mountain bikes and had an amazing afternoon sessioning the Verbier ski area. I've taken one ski lift with a bike in my life and that was rural Pennsylvania, so this was a treat to ride up over 8,000' elevation. https://www.strava.com/activities/12424550083 The next day was tallying as much elevation as possible in a region as close to Verbier as possible. Okay, not really, but that's the way it shook out.
