Channel Title: The Awkward Tourists Channel Description: Hello Happy Travelers! We're Kelly & Kevin, married part-time travelers with full-time wanderlust. When we're not on a trip, we're adventuring around our neighborhood in SoCal where we live with our cats Boris & Midge. Kelly's from California and Kevin's from New York state. Description: These are just some of the standout countries we’ve visited over the years, but of course this list is subjective and not exhaustive! Most Friendly: The Seychelles has the most friendly people I’ve ever encountered and also some of the most joyful. A local called up a friend to give Kevin and me a ride to a beach when we couldn’t catch the bus, even though she had never met us! Best Historical Sites: This one is obvious, but Egypt wins hands down. The whole country is more or less one big historical site and it’s insane to think that I’ve been inside a structure that was built by human hands more than 5000 years ago. With the USA only being 250 years old, that number is hard to fathom Best for Wildlife: Although I personally enjoyed my safari time in South Africa better, the sheer volume of animals in the Maasai Mara of Kenya is mind-blowing. At any given time, we could easily have 5 different species of animals within eyeshot. We lost count while trying to figure out how many animals we saw, and we didn’t have to work hard to find them in our safari vehicle Most Underrated: We visited Poland in 2021 because we had wanted to visit European Christmas markets, and the ones in Germany we had in mind were closed (due to the panini). Poland ended up being our backup and I’m so glad we went! It’s way less expensive than Western Europe, Wroclaw is the best Christmas market I’ve ever been to, and the people are hilarious. Plus, the scenery and history are incredibly interesting Most Beautiful: I’ve been to a lot of places that are objectively beautiful, but the USA winds in this category due to the diversity of the beauty. The USA has more types of intensely beautiful landscapes than any other place I’ve been to and I will spend a lifetime exploring it and still probably never see all of its gems Most Epic: Iceland is truly the land of Fire and Ice. I was able to hike to a volcano spewing lava one day, and walk on a black sand beach littered with sparkling pieces of glacial ice on the next. Around every corner were more epic waterfalls, canyons, mountains, and glaciers than I have ever seen and will provide huge adventures for anyone who visits </video> <video> Diamonds are a girl's best friend 💎 Description: Golden hour at Diamond Beach is truly something special! ✨ The way the setting sun illuminates these icebergs scattered across the black volcanic sand is just magical. 😍 It's like they're giant diamonds and I want to take one home! Too bad it would melt... Diamond Beach is located right next to Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, where these magnificent icebergs break off and make their way to the sea. You can actually watch them float through a narrow channel before washing ashore. It's mesmerizing! 🧊 Pro tip: Take some time to explore both the lagoon and the beach. You can walk along the shoreline and get up close to these incredible ice formations, but remember to be careful as they can be unstable Have you been to Iceland yet?
