This is a concept that is especially pertinent to Sadibou and I as lifelong perfectionists. To what extent are we willing to go in the pursuit of that final touch? It's exactly that question that led us to the premise of the film in the first place. We wanted to explore the creative process of an obsessed artist from a perspective that we hadn't seen before, by including the meta-narrative of ourselves making the film within the film. And through a series of happy accidents, we captured something much more tangible and alluring than we could have in a traditionally scripted film as we had originally planned. As reflected in the film, we managed to film the entire project in five days, with little to no pre-production. But ultimately our time constraints inadvertently served to elevate the themes of the film. Despite the tragic extent that we take our characters to by the end of the story, in truth we actually had a blast scrambling to finish the movie before Sadibou had to leave town, (we were so close to our deadline in fact that Sadibou's ride was waiting on him in a nearby parking lot during the entire filming of the final scene.) the strictness of the deadline ultimately led to a really special rekindling of our childhood creative spirits that had lay dormant for so many years. There was something really special about making this movie with my best friend, a movie we could have only dreamed of when we started our filmmaking journey back in middle school. It's a collaboration we're terribly excited to finally share.
