Today, we're gonna talk about a little trick I've picked up over the years, and let me tell ya, it's a real game-changer when it comes to working with hide glue. Now, if you're like me, you hate wastin' stuff, especially good ol' hide glue. So, what's a savvy craftsman to do with those leftover bits of precious adhesive? Well, I'll tell ya – stick 'em in the freezer! Yep, you heard me right. The freezer ain't just for frozen peas and ice cream. It's also the secret weapon in your arsenal for dealing with hide glue. You see, hide glue is a peculiar beast when it comes to its material properties. It's got this unique ability to gelatinize when heated up and return to its solid state when it cools down. So, why not harness that power, eh? Here's the lowdown: once you're done with your glue-up session and you've got some leftover hide glue in your pot, don't let it go to waste. Instead, pour that liquid gold into some nifty little silicone molds – ice cube trays work like a charm. Pop those babies into the freezer, and voilà, you've got yourself hide glue cubes ready to roll whenever you darn well please. Now, you might be wonderin', "Why go through all this trouble?"
