I created this channel to record myself trying restaurants and sharing my honest thoughts on the dishes I eat. This channel will feature a variety of restaurants at all price points and levels of prestige. I do not collaborate with restaurants to make videos. I just show up like any other regular customer, but with a phone and a mic, so I do not get special treatment. Food will always be the top focus of this channel and every restaurant is fairly reviewed and scrutinized, regardless of positive or negative hype. A celebrity chef restaurant will get the same treatment as a neighborhood Chinese takeout joint. I look forward to us embarking on food adventures together. All are welcome! The Capital Grille Review in NYC Description: The Capital Grille is among the most acclaimed chain steakhouses in the USA, and it and Ruth's Chris are frequently mentioned as among the elite of the chain steakhouses. In my opinion though, Ruth's Chris ain't all that. We've reviewed it before on this channel. The Capital Grille though is quite excellent! Despite being in a steakhouse mecca, the Capital Grille locations in NYC all have excellent reviews. They are all around 4.5 or 4.6 and have thousands of reviews. That's pretty good considering NYC is home to many of the best steakhouses in the world! With that in mind, I resolved to head to the closest Capital Grille near me and try the Capital Grille menu. I kind of have high standards at this point, having eaten at many of the best steakhouses in NYC and the best steakhouses in America, but I will judge the Capital Grille fairly. I will say how good the Capital Grille is overall, rather than comparing it only against the best steakhouses in New York City which isn't very fair in my opinion. I will be reviewing the Capital Grille steaks and also its delectable Capital Grille Sam's mashed potatoes! The steak we reviewed will be what I presume to be the Capital Grille's best steak, their dry-aged bone-in New York strip strip since it was highlighted as such on the menu! The BEST Fish & Chips at NYC's HYPED British Spot Description: This may surprise many of you, but one of my favorite cuisines is British food! There is always a stereotype and misconception, at least in the US, that British food is bad and boring and to me that couldn't be further from the truth. I spent some time in the UK at some point and I still sometimes think about the best restaurants in the UK and the best restaurants in London. British food rocks! In America though, even in a cosmopolitan place like New York City, it's hard to find a good British restaurant or a great British pub in NYC! Even if you find one it's hardly ever authentic. But Dame in NYC is totally legit, trust me! It's hands down the best British restaurant in NYC that I have been to so far, and it's definitely serving one of the best fish and chips in NYC. To be honest, it would maybe even be one of the best fish and chips in London or one of the best fish and chips in the UK if they were based there! It's that good! Give it a try! NYC is one of the most diverse cities in America, if not one of the most diverse cities in the entire world! I'm not sure what other cities would compare to NYC in terms of diversity, Maybe Toronto, London, and maybe Shanghai and Hong Kong? But while people tend to talk about NYC and its cosmopolitan nature from a worldly standpoint, even from just an America standpoint it's very well-represented! Any corner of the USA has some sort of presence in NYC, and therefore you can find sports fanbases of any team in New York City! My main sport is the NFL, and if you've been following this channel for a bit you know I'm a diehard Eagles fan. So because of that, out of all the NFL bars in New York City, the ones I'm most familiar with are the Philadelphia Eagles bars in NYC! And there isn't just one, there are several! From Wogie's to Olde City Cheesesteaks & Brew, formerly known as Shorty's, the relative short distance of NYC to Philadelphia means there are lots of options for Eagles bars in NYC, as well as authentic Philly cheesesteaks in New York City! But what about other NFL bars? Well there are loads of NFL bars near me of several teams! We will also check out a Dallas Cowboys bar in NYC and a Green Bay Packers bar in NYC. The Packers bar is especially famous. The place is called Kettle of Fish and it is quite a famous sports bar. You may be aware that Aaron Rodgers visited Kettle of Fish in the West Village and even signed a keg! I figured this was a good topic as we are soon entering the NFL playoffs. BEEF ON WECK and Wings at Anchor Bar! Description: Buffalo wings are perhaps one of the most iconic and ubiquitous American appetizers and comfort foods. You can pretty much find them in any American city or town, perhaps Canada too I haven't looked! UK fans, can you find them in the UK too? But who invented Buffalo wings? Where were Buffalo Wings invented? I had to go to the source for where Buffalo wings were invented, Anchor Bar in Buffalo, New York. Buffalo's Anchor Bar's original buffalo wings are still hyped today! They were the bar that invented the buffalo wings about 60 or so years ago, and they still make them the same way today! Despite how widespread Buffalo wings are today, not just in Buffalo, NY, or in upstate or western NY, but across all of North America, many still attest that Anchor Bar is the best buffalo wings in Buffalo! We shall put that to the test, as that's impressive to me! We will also try another Western NY food, the Buffalo beef on weck. Anchor Bar's beef on weck is also highly regarded. Beef on weck is more or less a roast beef sandwich on a German kimmelweck roll, and every restaurant or bar that serves it claims their beef on weck recipe is the best. Coal-Fired Pizza at Patsy's Pizzeria Description: Patsy's Pizzeria, now a local pizza chain in NYC, originated in East Harlem, where the original location still stands today! Since 1933, the original Patsy's Pizzeria location has been serving up coal-fired pizzas and is part of the old guard of original old-school coal-fired New York pizza shops. It's in company with other iconic old-school NYC pizzerias, such as Lombardi's the oldest pizzeria in the USA, and John's of Bleecker Street. Back then, all pizzas were coal-fired pizzas in NYC. After around the 1940s or 50s though, the trend began to shift towards gas-powered and even electric ovens, as coal was considered bad for the environment and most restaurants did not want to put up with all the rules and regulations for running a coal-fired oven. Because of that, coal-fired ovens are becoming few and far in-between, and most of the coal-fired pizza spots are the original iconic spots! Back then, Harlem was very much an Italian American community, so Patsy's was opened back then as one of the original pizzerias in New York City. While the demographics of Harlem have changed today, Patsy's still stands! That says a lot if you ask me about the food, so I figured I'd make the trek to 125th street and give it a shot! Description: If you love the channel consider supporting me on Patreon at Patreon.com/UAEats! Bradley Cooper has opened a Philly cheesesteak restaurant in NYC, and the hype is real! It opened a few times in December but it has reopened in January, at least temporarily. It sells just one menu item, an authentic cheesesteak. What makes this spot interesting is that it's a collab between Bradley Cooper and Angelo's Pizzeria, the latter of which is considered one of the best cheesesteaks in Philly! Bradley Cooper is from Philadelphia and he has never forgotten his roots! He is perhaps the most famous Eagles fan out there, besides maybe Kevin Hart, and often times you can spot Bradley Cooper at Eagles games. Besides his roles in movies and as an A lister celebrity, Bradley Cooper is now turning to his other passion, making authentic Philly cheesesteaks in New York City! I decided to try it, as not only is it associated with Bradley Cooper, but it's also associated with Angelo's, the best cheesesteak in Philadelphia in my book, it's definitely the one to beat so far! Trying The Dying Chain - Friendly's Ice Cream and Menu Review Description: Do any of you remember Friendly's? It may have been mostly based in the northeast, but at least where I grew up Friendly's was once immensely popular. So much so that at its peak Friendly's had over 800 locations, but now they are down to barely 100. That is like a 90% reduction in locations! But why is Friendly's, once known as Friendly's Ice Cream, dying out? Is it the food? Is it the ice cream? Is it the decor and the atmosphere? Is it competition? We will delve into the Friendly's menu and also try the ice cream at a Friendly's near me to see why Friendly's is declining and why Friendly's is dying out. I do not remember liking the food much there, I remember it being extremely mediocre and akin to like Applebee's, but probably worse. But we will try it and see if any of the nostalgic items from my childhood, like the Friendly's sundaes, particularly the Friendly's monster mash sundae, still live up to my memory and if they are good enough to survive in 2024, 2025 and beyond! Trying Brooklyn's Iconic Pizza Spot Description: There may be no more famous slice of pizza in New York City than Di Fara Pizza. Di Fara Pizza has been around since 1965, so coming up on 60 years now, and it's been serving arguably Brooklyn's best pizza since! It's not just word of mouth from locals, or tourists who are saying this. Some real big shots in the food industry have called it the best pizza in NYC if not the best pizza in the world! The connection between Anthony Bourdain and Di Fara Pizza and David Portnoy and Di Fara Pizza are well known. The One Bite Di Fara Pizza episode is particularly well-known. The One Bite Di Fara Pizza score of 9.4 is the second highest David Portnoy score he's ever given out! Beyond the David Portnoy Di Fara score though, I have just heard many people say Di Fara is the best pizza in America so I just know I have to try it. For me, individual people are subject to their own tastes and biases, but when so many locals and tourists alike recommend this place, you know I have to try it! It was not close to travel from New Jersey to Brooklyn for DiFara pizza, you might say it was Di "Fara way" haha... But it will surely be worth it for an amazing New York pizza tour and adventure! Description: A steakhouse that I have consistently received recommendations for in the comments, for about a year now, has been Amber Steak House in Brooklyn. Amber Steakhouse is very highly reviewed and is considered by many to be one of the best steakhouses in NYC! We didn't know what to order so we went with a solid, a T-bone steak. It's essentially a smaller porterhouse, with both a filet mignon and a NY strip attached to it. I figured this way we could try two steaks in one! Is Amber Steak House the best steakhouse in New York City? Join me as we find out together! Amber Steak House is a relative newcomer to the steak scene in NYC. It was established in 2010, but in a little more than a decade has established quite a reputation. The Chart House prime rib and the Chart House filet mignon are especially well-regarded, but on this channel we will also review a fish dish. I have many shellfish allergies, but I have no issue with fish, so we will review the Chart House miso-glazed salmon as well. All Chart Houses locations have very positive reviews. They all have hundreds, if not thousands, of reviews. While there is a Chart House near me, I actually reviewed the Chart House in Atlantic City, specifically the Chart House in the Golden Nugget, which has a wonderful view of the water. Description: Beefbar is a famous steakhouse that originated in Monte-Carlo and has now expanded well-past the original Monte-Carlo Beefbar original location. It has locations all around the world in many opulent and trendy cities, such as London, Paris, Hong Kong, pretty much you name it and one of these famous trendy international cities probably has one, besides the USA... Until now! Earlier this year, Beefbar opened in NYC to great acclaim. It is well-reviewed both locally, and critically. The NYC location is arguably considered the best one, as it recently made the list of Top 101 Steakhouses in the world, landing at No. 22 overall. Pretty impressive! That is above many of the other best steakhouses in NYC, such as Keens, Gallaghers, Minetta Tavern, and more. So I decided I must give Beefbar a try to see if the Beefbar NYC location indeed lives up to the hype! We will try obviously a Beefbar steak, but we will also try other items from the Beefbar menu. Description: Rochester, New York may be known for many things. It's known for being the home of Susan B. Anthony, as well as Frederick Douglass. However, it may be more known today for its iconic Rochester foods, and the most famous, or perhaps infamous, garbage plate! What is a garbage plate? It's basically a hodge podge of ingredients that look like a jumbled mess but it works! We go to Nick Tahou's in Rochester in this video to try garbage plates at the source, where it was invented over 100 years ago! The story is that the plate was popular with University of Rochester students, and they would walk into Nick Tahou's and say "can I get a plate with all that garbage on it?" and the name stuck. Is Nick Tahou's the best garbage plate in Rochester? I think technically it's the "only" garbage plate, as others are copycats. But we will see if the garbage plate lives up to the hype and put Nick Tahou's garbage plate recipe to the test! This will be my first ever authentic garbage plate. The Chili's comeback is perhaps one of the most unlikeliest of the restaurant chains in America. It is probably hands down the best restaurant chain in America right now, at least when it comes to reviews, popularity, and its business performance! Chili's was once a dying chain, but in the past year it has seen resurging sales. Now, Chili's near me is packed all the time. And not just near me, Chili's everywhere are packed and swarmed with customers again! What gives? I am always of the opinion that the food is by far what matters most at every restaurant. Without good food, you're not going to do well! But still, why is Chili's SUDDENLY doing so well? Is Chili's good now? Has Chili's gotten better? We will find out if Chili's has improved as we try the Chili's menu for the first time ever. Yep, you read that correctly. I have never been to Chili's before! I've been to loads of the other American chain restaurants, like Applebee's, TGI Fridays, and Olive Garden etc. But Chili's? Not once. I am aware of the Chili's baby back ribs commercial though and the Chili's baby back ribs song. I will try their food for the first time ever today, and see how they are! On a snowy New Jersey day, we braved the blizzard and drove down to Atlantic City to eat at a restaurant that I have had heavily recommended to me, Vic & Anthony's Steakhouse in Atlantic City! Vic & Anthony's in Houston, Texas is a really well regarded steakhouse there, so much so that they have opened other locations. There's a Vic & Anthony's in Las Vegas and a Vic & Anthony's in Atlantic City, NJ. All have amazing reviews! Not only does it seem like a great steakhouse, but it seems like one of Atlantic City's best restaurants! Vic & Anthony's is actually one of the highest rated steakhouses in Atlantic City, so we braved the winter storm to drive down to AC to review Vic & Anthony's in the Golden Nugget hotel casino! We will see if it lives up to the hype as one of New Jersey's best steakhouses, and also one of America's best steakhouses, or if it's just overrated hype due to the steakhouses being located in convenient casino towns.
