Sunlight - find a spot in the garden with at least six to eight hours of sunlight each day. 2. Soil Preparation – the soil is the most important “raw material” as it will provide the necessary nutrients for the growing plant. I usually mix potting soil with compost and processed cow manure to produce this bountiful harvest! 3. Container – if you don’t have a natural soil garden (in our case we utilize a roof deck) choose a container that can hold at least 5 gallons of soil and water (minimum one foot tall and ten inches wide. Don’t forget to drill out drainage holes at the bottom of your container! 4. Water and fertilizer – don’t forget to water them daily and don’t be afraid to put more compost materials especially during the early signs of flowering. You can also add organic fertilizers that are high in potassium (K) phosphorus (P) 5. Prune the excess shoots and leaves – this will encourage more flowering and fruiting 6. Manual Pollination – if there are not many bees in your area, you can use a small paint brush to release the pollen and pollinate the flowers. 7.
