NATO VJTF forces lead by Turkey help repel an attack in Romania Noble Jump 21 exercise at Cincu firing range in central Romania, part of Steadfast Defender 21 campaign. The fictitious scenario has Romania attacked by an enemy which captures positions inside the country. As a response, NATO sends the VJTF to provide first response. In this case, a VJTF team lead by the 66th Turkish mechanized infantry brigade Over 4.000 troops and nearly 600 armored vehicles, machinery, tanks and aircraft are involved in Noble Jump 21. 13 ally countries take part, with troops and equipment directly involved from Turkey, Romania, USA, UK, Italy, Spain, Poland, Latvia, Hungary, Montenegro, Albania, Slovakia. Troops have been conducting real exercises for over a week and now have put on a life fire show for guests and media. The Bucharest Municipality bought 100 trolleybuses from the polish company Solaris for approximately 58 million Euros (excluding VAT). The trolleybuses are Trollino 12 models. They are 12 meters in length, have a fully lowered floor and can carry up to 90 passengers (27 seated). They can also be battery operated when needed and have a minimum range of 20 kilometers on battery power. As such, they will serve different transport lines in Bucharest where they will switch from wired to battery power on different sections of the route. During this live-fire exercise a French LRU unit and a Romanian HIMARS unit fired multiple rockets towards floating targets on the sea surface. The new LRU units have a new firing system and rockets. LRU is equipped with a new fire control system (EFCS – European Fire Control System) designed by Airbus Defense and Space. The first upgraded LRU was delivered to the French army in February 2014. The LRU program addresses the need to conduct all-weather precision ground strikes metric, up to 70 km. The French upgrade to its M270s is meant so that the Army can fire the 227 mm M31 high explosive (HE) unitary warhead Guided MLRS (GMLRS). Compared with the earlier French MLRS rockets, which were armed with submunitions, the M31 features a single 90 kg HE warhead; includes GPS and inertial navigation system guidance to provide a circular error of probability of less than 10 m; and doubles the missile’s range to 70 km. EFCS enables firing of M31, M31A1, M32, AT2 and 110 mm rockets, but not of M26, M26A1 and M30, so as to ensure full compliance with the Convention on Cluster Munitions. The buses were bought from BMC TRUCK & BUS Romania for approximately 58 million Euros (excluding VAT). The buses are actually manufactured in China by ZTE Smart Auto and are a Granton GTZ6129BEVR model. These buses are 12 meters in length, they have a complete low floor and can accommodate up to 80 people, with 30 seats, 2 folding seats and one spot for disabled persons. The bus has an 195KW electric motor and Lithium-Ion-Phospate battery with a total capacity of 374,65 kilowatt-hours. It takes 2.5 to 4 hours to fully charge the batteries, depending on the power of the charger. HNLMS Den Helder is a new replenishment oiler under construction for the Royal Netherlands Navy. Also known as the Combat Support Ship (CSS), Den Helder is planned to fill the gap of replenishment at sea that was left after HNLMS Amsterdam was sold to Peru in 2014. The ship has a cost for nearly 374 million euros and is set to be completed in 2023. The modules launched now will be transported to a dry dock where the rest of the ship's hull will be completed.
