JR: That’s a good example of how you can use two or more adjectives to describe a pet. We call them cumulative adjectives when they must appear in a special order to express the meaning that we want.
Dr. J.: Yes, I told you what I think about her first, or my opinion: she’s energetic. Then I gave her size, little, and finally her name.
JR: Did you hear what other pets are coming?
Dr. J.: I think Dorothy is bringing her five turtles.

JR: That’s our state university’s mascot!

How to Pronounce: I Am Going to ....
Description: Hello! I'm John Russell. 
Imagine a person asks you the following question:
“What you are going to do this weekend?”
How might you respond?
That response will be the subject of today's lesson. 
Perhaps the easiest way to respond to our question is to use the following structure:
I am going to .... 
You might continue your statement with a noun phrase, as in
I am going to a concert. 
Or
I am going to a museum. 
 
You might also complete your statement with an action word, as in:
I am going to visit my cousins
I am going to attend a conference. 
 
The statements we have explored are correct, but they do not sound quite natural. 
How might we sound more like an American?
 
We can start with our two statements:
I am going to a concert. 
I am going to a museum. 
 
Now, we need to cut out some sounds and combine others. 
 
We can reduce the "am" and cut off the "-g" ending in “going.” We can also connect the word "to" to the article "a."
When we take all of these steps, we get this:
I'm goin' to a concert. 
I'm goin' to a museum.
 
What about these statements? We can shorten the sentence by combining going and to.
I am going to visit my cousins
I am going to attend a conference. 
We might instead say this:
I'm gonna visit my cousins.
I'm gonna attend a conference.

AS: Well, in that case, split the difference. You both pay half. 
AM: Yeah, I guess we both were to blame.  
When you split the difference, two people agree to pay what they both think is fair.
They generally take the average of two proposed amounts. And that’s English in a Minute!

But what does it mean if something is “around the corner”?

When we say an event is “around the corner,” it means it will happen in the near future.

South Korean Army recruit, Rohingya fighters in Myanmar, Tips on writing, Reflexive pronouns

Everyday Grammar TV: Disagreeing at Thanksgiving
Description: John: You’re disagreeing with me? 
Dr. J: Yes, I disagree. Argument is NOT a fun grammar topic. It makes me sad to see people argue.  
John: Well, we can learn a lot about grammar from just one word. I’ll explain.  
John voiceover: We have the verb disagree. We generally use it without an object.  
Dr. J: For example, you might say in the present: 
“I disagree”  
Or you might use the past form, “John’s family members disagreed.” Neither of these statements has an object.  
John: Disagree sometimes appears with short words such as “about” or “over.” But perhaps the most common is the word “with.” 
Dr. J: You can think of “with” as a close friend of the verb “disagree.” They often appear together.   
John: After the word “with,” we often use a pronoun, noun or noun phrase. For example, you might say: 
“I disagree with him.” 
Dr. J: Here, the pronoun “him” comes after “with.” 
John: Or you might say: 
“My brother constantly disagrees with my sister.” 
Dr. J: In this case, the words “my sister” represent a noun phrase.  
John: You might also provide more information, as in: “My family members disagree with each other all the time!” 
Dr.J: Maybe you’re right.  I decided that I agree with you that this was a good grammar lesson. You made me think carefully about one word and how it commonly connects with other words. This kind of analysis is useful for learning all kinds of words.  
John: That’s a great point. I’m glad you agree.

Martial Law in South Korea, Notre Dame, Space traffic, Reflexive pronouns

For Science and Technology, Bryan Lynn reports that the United Nations is calling for increased international cooperation to improve safety as the amount of space traffic continues to grow. That number includes about 3,500 satellites that are currently inactive. In addition, there are about 120 million pieces of orbital debris left over from spacecraft launches, crashes or other causes.
