After the pump was replaced we packed up and headed to East Harbor State Park in Marblehead, Ohio. (Hocking Hills) Description: In this episode of Wandering Wagners we traveled to one of Ohio's most popular State Parks, Hoking Hills State Park in Logan, Ohio! It is known for its great hiking, waterfalls, and gorges. Because it is so popular, we usually only visit this park in the Winter so the trails are less busy and almost no one else in the campground is what we love most and we get to really enjoy the park and its features. @OhioStateParks After we finally got our campsite situation handled, (what a fiasco), we were able to enjoy the park. One thing we love about our @NeXusRV Super C motorhome, is that we can travel and camp year round, no matter the weather! We enjoyed the trails but visiting in the Winter has it's own hazards, mostly ICE! As long as you're careful you will be ok but if you have balance issues, you might want to visit when it is above freezing. We were able to enjoy a nice campfire, and go on a few runs along with hiking with the dogs. Next week we travel to another very popular state park in Indiana. Stay Tuned for that! (Coopers Rock) Description: In this episode of Wandering Wagners we traveled to our First West Virginia State Park, Coopers Rock State Park/State Forest, and we stayed at McCollum campground. @westvirginiastateparks1629 We were excited to camp here and to be able to explore a new park that offers great hiking opportunities. We were able to get a pull-thru site for our @NeXusRV Super C motorhome. The campground is also expanding with new sites that will offer 50amp and water at the sites, but it is not open yet and we suspect it will open in 2025. The campground is smaller but does offer quite a few sites that are wooded. The new sites will be mostly sunny. We set out hiking and thought we were on the Raven Rock trail, when the blazes stopped suddenly so Mike and Piper turned back and Lynn kept going on her own, determined to find the lookout that was supposed to be very scenic. However, after searching and coming up empty Lynn also turned back where she noticed the newbie mistake that was made at the very beginning of the trail... we were on the McCollum trail and the Raven Rock trail was just past that trail head. OOPS! We finally made our way on Raven Rock and made it to the lookout and it was beautiful! It was a VERY rocky trail which could make it hard to have solid footing, especially after the rain with wet leaves. Elevation was not bad at all so that part was easy. Next we did Coopers Rock lookout which didn't require a hike, just a walk from the nearby parking lot. Followed up with a 1 mile loop to Henry Iron Clay Furnace Trail. All of the trails we did were pretty easy, but rocky. We did a drive through viewing of the non-electric campground that is also at Coopers Rock called Rhodoendron Campground. This may have been our first stay at a West Virginia State Park, but it definitely won't be our last and we want to return here to do more hiking because we loved it that much! We brought the rain here as well but it didn't last long, luckily! We were able to get in several miles each day of both hiking, walking and running! There wasn't much else to do here as most of the boating activities were already closed for the season. We were able to do more laundry in our Nexus RV Super C. After having a washer and dryer in our RV there's no way we can go back to not having one and depending on laundry mats or campground laundry. We met up with friends Bill (AKA Uno), and Val who live in Indiana. We went to Wabash to Harry's Old Kettle Pub & Grille and had a great time! We love a good local bar and the food was really good too. This trip was a good relaxation visit where we could just relax in nature with the dogs and recharge our mental batteries. Description: Wandering Wagners hotline: 213-294-0398 </video> <video> Yellow Dog Village (Urban Exploration Abandoned Town) Description: In this episode of Wandering Wagners, we travel to Worthington, Pennsylvania to visit @yellowdogvillage Yellow Dog Village. Yellow Dog is an abandoned town that you can explore legally for a fee. We paid $50 each for 4 hours to explore it privately. If you're interested in urbex, or urban exploration this old town might be something you would enjoy! This town was built in the 1920's and was for a mining community, but as mining in the area dwindled, so did the towns population. The last resident moved out in 2010. Currently the owner of the entire village resides in one of the houses. The property is also home to sheep, chickens, cats, and geese that we got to see while visiting. The fee paid goes towards repairs to the houses on the property, many of which are unable to be accessed due to it being unsafe. A lot of the houses are pretty sketchy so be careful where you step! We were able to visit in our @NeXusRV Super C Motorhome with enough room to get in and get out with the @Jeep in tow so keep that in mind. The roads are tight getting there but it worked out just fine for us. Some people believe it is a creepy ghost town, or perhaps haunted, but we felt nothing whatsoever while we were visiting and enjoyed exploring an abandoned town for a blast to the past. (Evergreen RV Resort) Description: In this episode of Wandering Wagners we finally see snow and travel to Evergreen RV Resort in Dundee, Ohio to enjoy their indoor pool and hot tub while there's snow outside. Snow outside makes for perfect swimming weather to us. It's been 4 years since we've last visited Evergreen but we were due to return and enjoy the amenities they have year round! They have full hook up available and open year round here which is amazing and convenient. We ran out of coffee so Mike had to make a quick stop at @DOLLARGENERAL for some more, and he also later went to the nearby Red Tomato Market which has a lot of Amish made goods! We enjoyed ourselves in the pool and hot tub as it snowed lightly outside. it was magical! Walking back to the @NeXusRV Wraith Super C RV from the pool was fun and reminded us of when we were at the Hot Springs in South Dakota last Winter. (A.W. Marion) Description: In this episode of Wandering Wagners we travel to a new Ohio State Park to us, A.W. Marion in Circleville, Ohio. We wanted to check off a new to us @OhioStateParks and since we were coming back from West Virginia's Cooper Rock, we decided to finally visit, A.W. Marion State Park. It is a smaller state park and campground, with no shower/bath houses so we thought it would be a good choice for a park that might not be too busy. We were able to get our 2020 @NeXusRV Wraith 34W Super C RV into our site no problem, even with the hill we had to back up on! We did a take 2 of making a frozen pizza on the grill, but this time we used our @grillaholics6290 grill mat to make it cook more even and maybe not get as burnt on the bottom. It worked great but Mike decided to cut one of the mats to size and we will try it again in a future video to see how it compares. We did some hiking and running while we were here and really enjoyed the nicer weather for a few of the days. It rained the entire last day we were here though! Lynn showed one of our favorite breakfasts, German Pancake! Also, made tacos for dinner. Dave and Andrea Fitch stopped out to visit and have a campfire with us one evening as well. (Van Buren, Ohio) Description: In this episode of Wandering Wagners we visited a newly renovated @OhioStateParks , Van Buren State Park, in Van Buren Ohio. We love that it has been upgraded, but also HATE that it is now updated. This campground is smaller and used to be all stone and most of the sites were non-electric. Now, everything is paved and all of the campsites are paved, with electric and water, new picnic tables, and fire rings, as well as a new dump station that is in the campground where as the old dump station was not attached to the campground. On the surface this is awesome to have a great smaller park get some love and upgrades, however, we loved that it wasn't as popular and had a lot of non-electric sites which kept a lot of people for wanting to visit here, which meant we could come here any time on a whim and always get a site. Now with the upgrades that will be much harder or impossible to do anymore. So yes it is a selfish take but that's how we feel HAHA We love their trails at this park and they also have a large lake for boating and fishing. There still isn't a shower house and there are only pit toilets so maybe that will help keep people from wanting to visit. We will have to wait and see! Description: In this episode of Wandering Wagners, we travel in our Super C RV to one of our favorite @OhioStateParks Ohio State Parks, Mohican! This state park is located in Loudonville, Ohio and it's a very popular area for outdoor recreation in general but we mostly love all of the hiking and trails here with gorgeous views. We were joined this trip by our friends Dave and Andrea Fitch with @FollowingtheFitchs . We shared campfires, hiking, going up the fire tower, and even some chili, that Andrea made to share! The guys got to test out their new @Tabasco_US Tabasco hot sauce holster for when you're like Mike and you always want Tabasco on everything! Dave also made a cool @MilwaukeeTool can koozie with a 3D printer which is a fun novelty to have and great conversation starter around a campfire! We finally made it to the swinging bridge here and convinced Piper to even go across it a few times. (7 Oaks Farm) Description: In this episode of Wandering Wagners we venture to Lynn's parents farm for a family & friends Fall/ Halloween campout! We started off high and it just kept going downhill it seemed. We went to Van Buren State park in Ohio @OhioStateParks in our @NeXusRV Wraith 34W Super C RV, which is one of our favorite state parks to camp at in Ohio, and it is relatively close to our home base. Lynn drove Mikes pick up since we wanted to have a lot of campfires so we brought more wood than usual. Once set up we made a grilled pizza with the @grillaholics6290 grill mat, cut to shape and it was a winner! Definitely kept the bottom from getting as hot as before, and didn't snuff out the flame like the whole mat did before. The following day Lynn made a Thanksgiving feast to share with our friends @FollowingtheFitchs who were camping with us. When cooking, our @dometicfficial 12V refrigerator was back on its episodes of not wanting to stay on no matter what! We kept trying to reset it but nothing worked so we will have to try and find a new remedy to this POS fridge soon. Luckily it was in the 20s and teens Fahrenheit outside so we moved some of the freezer items to Mikes truck to try and save them. That's when we realized his truck battery was DEAD. Unfortunately, the frozen items we tried to keep, thawed and we had to throw them away. However, we were able to use our @ICECOFREEZER Iceco Fridge/cooler and we set the whole cooler to fridge temps so we could try and save some of our Thanksgiving feast leftovers. The Iceco cooler came in clutch for this trip! Later, after Mike's shower he noticed a water puddle by the side of the bed, our fresh water tank and water pump is under our bed. Sure enough our water pump was leaking pretty heavily! We turned off the water pump and put towels down so we could go to sleep. Overnight, our CO2 detector started to go off and alarm! There was nothing on that uses propane so we reset it, forced the furnace to run, to check, and it didn't go off again. So either it was a fluke or we have an unknown leak and we are all dead haha! We were able to remove the battery from Mike's pick up truck and get a new one so at least that was resolved, but it was at a cost we didn't foresee which always stinks! Things that went great was the Thanksgiving feast of pumpkin pie, Turkey, Stuffing, Baked Mashed Potatoes! Unfortunately we didn't get to save almost all of the leftovers. UGH. Since my leftovers got ruined, we went to get lunch at one of our favorites, Beer Barrel Pizza and Grill, in Findlay, Ohio. One thing is for sure, it's always something with RV'ing. (Chain O Lakes State Park) Description: In this episode of Wandering Wagners we travel to Chain O Lakes State Park in Albion, Indiana where we helped to end droughts and explore this park, rain or shine! We first had to do laundry from our last trip in our @NeXusRV Super C RV, and we were able to do 2 loads of road laundry without our generator thanks to our @Redodopower LiFePo batteries, and our @VictronEnergyBV MultiPlus II Inverter, and we do have @RichSolarTalk panels on the roof that bring in power while traveling as well. We arrived to Chain O Lakes with rain and more rain but we still got in a 5 mile walk! Rain can't keep us down! The next day the rain had stopped and we decided to go on a run, then a hike with the dogs and also wanted to rent a canoe. This park also has a 9-lake paddle challenge so if you're looking for an all day activity on the water, give this challenge a try! We did not do the challenge and we were happy it just didn't storm, and that the leak in our canoe was minor haha overall this was such a great stop for us and I'm sure we will be back! (Dry Camping: Walnut Grove Campground) Description: In this episode of Wandering Wagners we traveled North into Michigan to give a new dry campground a chance with hopes that Michigan could redeem itself in our eyes. We live close to Michigan but it seems that every time we camp here we just don't have a great time, or the site/campground is a let down, etc. So this time we wanted to give Michigan another chance and go try dry camping in our @NeXusRV Super C RV. Not far from Detroit, Michigan there is the Huron-Clinton Metroparks and in that metro park system is the Lower Huron Metropark, which has several campgrounds but only one allows RVs. Walnut Grove Campground is where we decided to venture to next. This is a DRY campground but they do have potable water and a dump station. No showers, but they do have pit toilets. The campground is smaller but the area of the park system offers LOTS to do. Several miles of hiking, bike paths, and even paddle trails on the Huron River. There is a water park that is open in the Summer and a really big nice playground for the kids. We took full advantage of having the multi-use paved trail right outside our door. We even grilled a pizza for dinner on our @GrillwithWeber ! Surprisingly it turned out really good and it was only burnt because i turned up the heat when i should have left it alone. lesson learned! Since this is a non-electric campground we were able to utilize our two @Redodopower 410Ah LiFePo batteries, along with our @VictronEnergyBV Multi-Plus II Inverter, @RichSolarTalk panels on the roof and our @BLUETTIOfficial portable solar panels on the ground and we had all the power we could ever need! We think this Metropark is nicer than most Michigan State Parks campgrounds! Nicer trails, sites, and overall amenities even without power. We would definitely return. The only down side is that this campground isn't open year round. They close in Late October unfortunately, other than that we'd say Michigan has redeemed itself for us!
