This video is compilation of segments from several shorter videos about my experiences building a wood boat. It took me several months to complete the build of this 13 foot wooden boat which is a plywood skiff that is sealed in fiberglass and epoxy resin. The Jimmy Skiff is a plywood boat that is built from a kit sold by CLC. These boats are stitch and glue boats that are sealed in epoxy resin and fiberglass for durability and strength while still providing the benefits of a wooden boat. I built the Jimmy Skiff II in a class sponsored by Wooden Boat School but held at Chesapeake Light Craft in Annapolis Maryland. When you build a wooden kit boat in a class like this, the finish work is usually completed at home. Messing around with various kinds of boats, outboard engines and electric outboard motors. When it comes to boats and boating, I'm not a professional by any means. I am not a marine mechanic and I am not a licensed captain. I share my experiences (and inexperience) good and bad, and hopefully entertain along the way. I want you to get the most out of boating to have days filled with good experiences on the water!
Just a few years ago, I was brand new to boating. I didn't know port from starboard let alone whether sailing was harder than operating a powerboat (it is!). I started making videos to share info to help other new boaters. I often get feedback and input from viewers who help me as well! Sometimes I am tackling a repair for the very first time, other times I am learning about modern wooden boats or why there's less new aluminum boats around these days!
